Hi guys,

I had above alarm installed in my R33 few months ago and had few problems with it:

1. Alarm would going off wail driving for some reason and I could not turn it off by remote, it would stop by itself after few minutes.

2. It would go off as soon as I turn the car off , again goes for few minutes and then stops (very  when you go to local servo to fill up)

This happens on and off. It would be ok for 2 weeks and than it would do it 3 times in a day. The guy that installed it suspected it was siren playing up.We put in the new one but that didn't fix the problem, few days ago he put new module in so we hope for the best.

Did anyone had the same problem and what was the issue?

Thanks

Goran

did the siren get wet ? battery backup sirens dont like water. even steam off the engine kills em. THEY STILL GO OFF BUT WONT STOP.

ive had sirens come out of the box, and die within a week, if its been on the shelf uncharged for a long time

when it goes off I take it only the siren is going off, not flashing lights , or making the car die ?

last time I ran across this symtom, it was the siren, bent door pin switch with bad connection. rusty behind it.

does the alarm detect any problems, or do you get normal beeps, and flashing lights on arm disarm

things to check, grounds on battery, power on battery, does the car have a decent battery that holds a charge, do you get a charging voltage ?

check grounds on alarm, switched power, constant power on alarm.

is the siren loud or sound slightly muted

most likely a siren not seeing 12v or ground from battery and goes off because of it. it thinks someone cut you siren off the car. so it goes off.

but it also sounds like you have another issue, that wont let the alarm disarm properly if you have any flashing lights etc. crusty pin switches are common , dome lights not working, ?? if the installer connected the wrong side of the wire on the pin switch it wont work when the dome light is blown ?

some of your symtoms can be from a hot engine, as it cools the sensor picks up the creak and groan of the car cooling. ?

also some crims hit your car by hand over and over till you get sick of it and dont set your alarm again , dont fall for it cause your car spot will be empty when you return

sounds like a wet siren to me. I have a customers car doing this at the moment but I cannot isolate it back to the siren or unit. I didnt do the initial install of it either so tht makes it a bit harder.

Firstly thanks for your replies fellas.

I don't think siren got wet.

Yes when it goes off it's only siren, no flashing lights and car doesn't die.

It's hard to tell if it detects any problem because we put silent arm and disarm, and indicators only light up for few sec. when disarmed (but not flashing)

Battery is cheap one from RAC but I put in big motherfu..er so I hope thats fine.

Used to run DEKA gel type racing batt. but wasn't happy with it,needed constant charging if not in use for more than 2 weeks.

Dome lights are working fine.

I don't think is siren, coz we put in new one and it didn't solve the problem.

When we put new module in we doubled up on earth just to be safe.

Maybe it can be just the engine heat as you suggested as siren is close to dump pipe and running high mount it does get pretty hot.

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.

    • Welcome Gabriel. At least your car has a glorious RB and not the shitty CA18. As MBS206 mentioned all the good bits can be added later. Two doors or four?
    • And half of them have been converted to turbos.
