Yes I have searched. All the search results are pertaining to a RB26 with stock internals. I am considering using stock pistons and shot peening the stock rods and installing ARP bolts and was wondering at what HP would the pistons need to be changed? The turbo I am considering will make 600 BHP. Even if the stock pistons will take that, what is the known common limit?

Thanks,

How long is a piece of string?

It's more about tune and what not than a specific power figure.

Given you are pulling it apart anyway, for around $1200 you can get a set in there that will take a bit of a rattle where a stock piston would otherwise fail miserably.

Stock rods are fine for that power level - plenty of people using them (RB26 dyno results thread, all in there).

You need to start using the search a bit more mate.

think of it like this.

Comprehensive insurance for your whole car is going going to cost you say $2000 a year give or take.

for $1200 you can have some insurance on you motor and that wont need renewal every year.

what pistons are you getting?

some peoples standard pistons will take 350rwkw and some wont make it past 300 (like my old engine for example)

Generally its the ring land on number six that will let go as this cylinder gets the hottest

As stated before it has alot to do with the tune, and how healthy the engine is

Just buy some decent pistons lol youll feel better when ur givin it some curry
