Hey sau

Before you say search and all that usual stuff. I have done my fair share of searching, but would like something more specific.

I own a r33 GTR (vspec). I love her. And now with a little more power she is a bit of a killer. :).

But we all know that power is never enough and you are always left wanting more.

I would like to shoot for 350awkw maybe 400. But I believe that alot of money has to be thrown at her to achieve that.

Before I start extracting more power, I want to make the engine not go boom on me. I don't want to do a full rebuild as of yet. I don't mind doing a few internals but would like to leave the bottom end stock. Not forever though.

Basically I want to replace some parts, that won't completely rob the bank, and make my car that little extra reliable.

I will be upgrading turbos in the near future, thinking -5's

And going to get a new clutch. Something for daily driving, maybe a cushioned button clutch.

Would like to do work to the engine prior to that though.

Car won't be tracked regularly. Maybe once a year deal.

Does anybody have any advice on my approach to this?

Thanks for you're input.

Cheers

I want to do it right, and not sit around scratching my ass, that's why I'm asking you boffins. :).

You'd better aim for 300-330 on standard motor for better life and smaller turbos than pair of -5s for nice response than slighty laggier -5s.

Look at 300-330kw thread on forced induction forums, heaps of info there.

It seems as though the 300-330 mark is right for me :). I might chase more power later on. When I have the money to make it work that is!

Just wondering on other things.

Is it worth installing a baffle plate for a spirited street car?

And is it worth replacing the water pump?

I would like to do as many "little" things as possible to keep my engine in pristine condition.

Thoughts, advice?

Thank you very much.

Sump baffle is engine out job, hardly worth it, just overfill by a litre on top of the high on dipstick.

Replace the water pump as part of 100,000km service which includes water pump, idler tensioners, cam belt - also good time to slap pair of adjustable cam gears while you're at it.

Should you want to go overboard, rebuild the motor.

Thanks for that count. Truly sorry for my noobness. I just want to treat her well.

Well put it this way, the engine will be rebuilt when it either gives out due to age, or because I ran too much power.

Not keen on doing one so soon.

But thank you for the info. The car has made a big impression on me. Especially when you turn that key :D
