G'day

The old man and I are taking the skylines to another tuning day this Saturday 3 September. There is also a hill climb at jacks hill the same day.

Does anyone have there CAMS license and WASCC membership and want to bring their cars out? Anyone who doesn't but want to come out for a look anyway are most welcome. There's no spectator entry fees and there is a lunch canteen.

9am - 4pm

Would be a great opportunity to meet and greet.

Cheers,

Brendan

Hi Brendan, Normally I'd be keen, but still waiting to get my car finished. Will definately be out there as soon as I can. WASCC Tuning days are one of the best value for money events around

Don't forget to check out here for other events

200L of Sucrogen E85. It's genuine race fuel, so is gaurenteed to be E85+, the stuff from the pumps over east fluctuates dramatically.

So not for everyday driving then :P

any word on when they are selling it at the pump here? last i heard someone was trying to manafacture it here a couple of years back but it fell thru...

Nope, only for the true motorsport enthusiast

None of the petrol companies have any plans to bring it over, not only due to legal restrictions, but also due to not being able to fully supply the eastern states markets.

I would be keen to do some laps of Barbagallo!

I am part of the speed event series that are running the Jacks Hill- hillclimb, but its a long way for me to travel for only 4min of racing!!

I have cams L2S lisence and a car thats ready to go.

Can somebody tell me if this is going ahead and costs??

I dont have WASCC membership.. yet.. depending what this is worth- I may join up

That's why WASCC Tuning days are awesome, heaps of track time, so really good bang for your buck. They tend to alternate tin-tops and open-wheelers in 20-30min sessions. With your WASCC Membership you get a free Tuning Day (Normal cost about $75), so helps offset the cost.

WASCC Membership is annual, but membership is now being charged on a pro-rata basis, so you only pay a reduced amount till the end of the year :)

not wanting to put a dampner on this but, Tuning Days aren't really an event, there is no timing, racing, fastest, slowest, winners, losers etc you just get access to the track to do laps, which after a couple of times can get a bit boring, sure you can pump out some laps,to get familiar with the track and tune your setup. I find the Nolimits nights a bit more exciting with live timing and a leader board, you can see if you are actually getting quicker, and where you stand.. just my 2c

Look forward to meeting you fellas.

Shaun - I might try come and have a look at the hill climb and meet you.

Paul - good luck with the car amd hope to meet soon.

Cheers,

Brendan

No worries, silver R33.

I see what you're saying, and agree totally that it's not an event, however the only way to improve as a driver is by doing lap after lap etc. Lap times are improtant too, and grabbing a Performance Box, which can provide lap times and race lines are an excellent investment for the racing enthusiast.

I've done lots of No Limits events, and certainly would recommend them to anyone getting into Motorsport , but for me time on the track is more important, so tuning days are great value for money :D

    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
