hey guys im new to SAU, i have done a fair amount of searching on the forums, as i am looking for a list of part numbers for my 1998 er34 running an rb25det neo.

everything under the hood is stock, except the exhaust, its in dire need of its 100 thou service, and im busy rounding up parts, i also need to know the best oil for engine, trans, diff, best coolant to use. bearing in mind this car is only for street use at this point in time, i would still like to spend that little extra to make sure she runs sweet. here's what ive got so far:

1.air filter = RYCO A360

2.fuel filter = RYCO Z200

3.oil filter = RYCO Z145A

4.engine oil = CASTROL edge 0w40

5.sparkplugs = NGK PFRGG-11, or iridium BKR6EIX-11

6.timing belt = BOSCH BT1040H

are these good choices? if not, can you list a better one, and also, part numbers/names i dont have yet are:

7.tensioner pulley =

8.idler pulley =

9.air con belt =

10.power steering belt =

11.brake pads =

12.clutch fluid =

13.brake fluid =

14.coolant =

15.thermostat =

16.oxygen sensor =

17.water pump =

18.injectors (stock?) =

19.coil packs =

im sure there is many more parts that need the occasional replace, but im new to imports and skylines in particular, and by new i mean a total noob :P any help would be greatly appreciated, the more recommendations the better, as it will help build a solid list of parts for this model.

I am more then happy to help people on this forum identify and replace any lighting bulbs, both exterior and interior in the r34, as i have done a complete refit of every bulb in the car, and i can also detail any particulars and diy to help you install custom bulbs yourself, even with a few pictures included.

cheers lads, ladies, and haters:D

i've heard Ferodo brake pads are pretty good, but i've already purchased a set of Bendix pads for my service.

coolant that my tuner uses for my r34 is calibre long life coolant (anti-freeze/anti-boil) 20bux at supercheap.

you should have a look at the kudos website they are sau trader, you will find genuine nissan parts and aftermarket stuff including part numbers.

cheers

contrary to popular belief and despite all their marketing, Castrol oil is not actually that good. It's too thin for Australian summers and doesn't offer the same protection and temperature stability as the other synthetic oils.

Of the common brands, Penrite, Mobil or Motul IMO. anything from 0w to 15w depending on kms.

I work at repco, ill have a look on monday for some part numbers for ya ;)

Ferrodo pads are shite. A budget option at best. I've heard of pads on a Territory last less than 12,000 kms (normal driving). Unless you get thermo quiets, they're a lot better. Bendix CT pads still take the cake for affordable pads.

you should be able to buy the bosch timing belt and pullies as a kit

platinum/iridium plugs are massive waste of money, get some copper plugs like a BCPR6E

as above Castrol oil isn't what is commonly used by most skylines owners that have a clue, got for the gold mobil 1 or motul 8100 xcess

why would you replace your fuel injectors? at best get them cleaned and flow tested

are yu having issues with your coilpacks ie. missing? because if not then you don't need to replace your coilpacks either.

so Mobil 0w40 is the way to go then? when i purchased the car it came with a 5litre of castrol 0w40 in the boot, so i assumed twas' decent, ill look into chaning it, should i flush the oil out with a random crappy oil before changing to mobil? work at repco? LEGEND!

cheers for the help

1 of the 34's is having a strange uneven idle, not really bad, just sound unusual, was suggested somewhere it was probably my coilpacks on the way out( have no idea how to test them:S). injectors would be something ill be needing to change in the near future on the other 34, i have no idea why, as my mechanic didnt specify, but ill be sure to double check with him what the deal is on injectors.

do you happen to know if you can get the pulleys as a seperate item to match the belt? i already have the belt, found it in the boot with some castrol oil :D, i doublechecked it to make sure it was the right one, apparently previous owner was getting ready for 100thou service, but decided to sell due to financial difficulty, poor bugger. cheers for the help

Get genuine timingbelt and tensioners from nissan dealership - their prices are not so bad for these items.

Probably a good time to get a new waterpump too.

Brake pads - go genuine too - but it is on the pricey side.

    • And also there were for sale scams and the like. For sale posts need piccies, and not having piccies makes it harder to do a driveby scam.
    • And I forgot to add my *** footnote to the above post, which was that the pipework mods would be even more significant than what had to be done for the highflow. So just add that onto the list. Pipework mods are no killer, just made the tasklist longer at a time when extra tasks were not welcome.

    • Ah ok, reason I asked was for the sake of not having to upgrade everything if the turbo couldn't be capped.
    • pffft! My alignments are starting to take 3-4 weeks each. Bugger overnight - that would be a dream! Overnight is when I leave it on stands with the rear suspension in pieces, hoping I can remember where I was at when I come back to it. I have to set the car up on a level surface so I can get decent camber measurements, then try to set the RUCAs to the right length to get that right. Then I have to put the car somewhere else where I have enough room to set up the bumpsteer gauge (laser, paper, mirror), so I can dial out that. Then I need to go measure camber again because changing the tension arm length affects that also. Then I need to measure toe, and I can't do that to my own satisfaction at home, so I have to put it on an actual aligner. Then I have to go back and fix the camber again, and if that took more than a half a turn, decide if I want to set up the bumpsteer measurements again. I previously had the bumpsteer almost completely banished and then I started changing things again! And that's only the rear end. Not even gotten to talking about the front yet. And this has been going on in the context of me discovering a seized bolt in the LHR FUCA bush at the upright, hence needing total disassembly to replace that bush and the others that were not far away from the same outcome, replacing sphericals in the front end and making a mistake that resulted in needing to do it again, which is only half done right now. It's a selfmade nightmare. Only have self to blame, etc etc. But regardless, I am so complelely unable to utilise the services of a normal wheel aligner that I have no choice. I haven't found a shop in my city that does "race" alignments - and by that I don't mean I want my car to be set up for racing, but the set of adjustments that I have available and that need to be used to do the alignment are the same as you'd find on a race car. I haven't looked everywhere, but there doesn't appear to be the equivalent of the motorsport focused shops that are present in Sydney and Melbourne. And such an alignment would cost $300, and you only want to do it once in a while, and you don't want to find out that you have to replace bushes and bearings and such while you are spending that $300 so you have to come back and spend it again a week later. So I stay living in my self made nightmare for the moment.
