They are slow. Turbo skylines which are stock as a rock are also quite slow but still not bad for a small turbo motor. There aren't much for the price you can get which are quicker. A slightly boosted turbo skyline with the basic mods(exhaust and probably cooler) is faster than a BMW M3. I had about 180rwkw when I was stock and I managed to get ahead and infront of the M3 bmw V8. Just enjoy the car.

When you are able to get a turbo, you will love it. A skyline with greater than or equal to 200rwkw is a very fun, nice, powerful and fast car.

Love the video above, not many 2.0NA motors can do that!

Naah, or he really wasn't trying..

He was screaming his ear off, my mum was in the car hitting me to slow down. Happened. True story. My old skyline which made 225rwkw would absolutely tear them in half.

Only a GTST, and those I6 M3's are better than the V8's. Doesn't take much more than a little boost to be quicker than them. Top end they have it with their larger displacement motor but down low, we got bigger torque and enough power to get infront.

hmm well when i call a car a boat i refer to the sway it has when cornering and the poor cornering performance, from what i have herd the R33 has this issue stock but can be fixed with suspension n other goodies.

I just sold my R31. Shortly after I test drove an n/a 33 and it handled terribly compared to my 31, and it was also slower (and lacking in the torque).. n/a 33 would have to be the worst n/a skyline you can get in terms of performance, so yes your car is a boat, and yes, your friends 04 camry will obliterate it if you guys have a full heckers mad dog street race..

My boat has whiteline sway bar, bilsteins with king spring, and front and rear strut bracing, it handles great, has a slight touch of understeer mid corner which can be fixed by the accelerator pedal

M3 Evo ~320 at fly, mine made 255rwhp.

You say 180rwkw ~ 241rwhp? When stock? Lies. Stock ones would make about 180rwhp...

In any case, V8 M3 is 414hp @ fly ~ 350rwhp.. no chance especially in a straight line... (Source)

at the end of the day, in non turbocharged form the RB is a moderate revving, small displacement, low static compression ratio engine in a moderately heavy car.

They were never going to be bastions of warp like acceleration, but that's ok it's not what they were built for.

If its one of the newer camry's it would chop your NA R33 lol.

Lol that it would. Refer to the other R33/R34 NA Gutless thread.

How slow is the 0 - 100km/h for a N/A R33? They got to be dam slow to be slower than your granny Camry...

My mum's 02 model takes 10.4 seconds for 0 - 100km/h & it is the 'slightly' more powerful V6 version.

So I can't see how the current ones would be better, since they are all 2.4 4 cyls now & are heavier with each generation with all the extra electronic & safety crap added. If anything one of the older models with a 5 speed manual would probably be the fastest one out of the bunch. This was the case with the Corolla my dad bought (06 model) which was slower in the acceleration department compared to the last gen, due to the fact that it has gain extra weight (for extra safety stuff) without much increase in engine power/torque.

Out of all your typical boring sedans (Accord, Mazda 6, 6 cyl falcodores etc etc) I find the Camry has one of the worest 0 - 100km/h time. Only thing slower on top of my head is the Great Wall X240 (which is not a sedan) which clocks in at 20 seconds :rofl2:

na skylines are weird.

the 33 i had felt slow and sluggish where as my 34 isnt too bad for an na, drove my friends 25gt and my car was much much faster. maybe slash your friends tyres, or undo his wheel nuts

im joking about the wheel nuts and tyres.

That's because the R34 has infinately variable valve timing (intake only) and a variable length intake manifold.

Therefore a much better torque spread across the RPM range.

but why is my r34 so different to my friends

Few possibilities.

- Possibly his variable length intake actuature (it actually looks like an actuator for a turbo) could be faulty. it's located on the middle section of the "Y" pipe - vacum leak will cause the actuator to stop working or work intermittently, causing sluggish low end performance.

- Any vacum leak

- Dirty air filter.

- Dirty AFM

- 02 sensor could be getting too old

- Poor quality fuel

- Timing out

- Auto trans slippage

- His car may have done higher KM's

- Engine oil too thick

- Low tire pressure

What makes 180rwhp? My stock turbo skyline was making 193rwkw on 12psi and is a very quick car. How much does the M3 weigh? It is a fairly big car. Both my skylines produced more torque also. In that graph that V8 is making 259ft pounds of torque. My old skyline made close to 320ft pounds and the current one is pushing more than 500ft pounds. I'm sitting on about 700nm and that is out of a small 2.5L 1.3 ton car. And I don't just peak that torque

hmmm. could just be a lemon

Yeah you aren't making 700nm of torque.
