My 86 is actually in Dark Grey Metallic GTS with Aero pack... looks soooooooo dam sexy.

I think alot of people will opt for the orangeish colour, the pictures you see on the net don't give the colour justice. I took the demo for a test drift & the salesman's fingernails are still stuck in the dash :w00t:

If you can drift a fat auto Stagea then you will have a ball with the 86! :rofl2:

The first one I saw was in the Dark Grey metallic; I reckon that's the pick of the colours.

I ALSO ordered a GTS in Grey... lol!

I opted not to get the aero kit though: Import Monster can have the TRD kit delivered to my door for less $$ than Toyota charge for the Aero kit...

That said, I like the clean lines of the factory car: I'll leave it alone until I've modded it for performance.

I'll probably change the kit later on but in years to come, the aero kit will be one of those hard to get factory items. It's this reason alone why I got it, that said I agree it looks WAY overboard styling wise. I was in the market for an Audi A5 Coupe, that is a very clean & sexy look but 100k+ is too much for me right now. I'll wait for the super fat wide bodykit for the 86, seen 1 white example & a few renderings & it looked hot!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, some like the clean look, some like the JDM tuner look & others like the WAY overboard look (all me) :D

  • 3 months later...

sounds like we better start a new thread for 86 owners....lol

A guy on the Mountain ordered one. When he ordered it before delivery the price included a full size alloy spare wheel and tyre. When he went to pic it up it only had a pressure pak can of tyre inflater. Being a Yank lawyer he told Toyota to stick it.He still drives his Tibby.

yeah only the first ones came with a spare, they quickly changed that...but more for the boot space from what i hear.

really tho.....is it a deal breaker not having it? flats aren't that common, sounds like he just needed an excuse to change his mind.......and lol at the yank lawyer. does this make him special in some way?

on a related note, seen a few 86's around. nice cars, all of them with P plates in the window.

all of them with P plates in the window.

i guess this is good news to someone maybe planning to track their 86

should have a good number of written off 86's in the scrap yards quite quickly

"check out my tofu shop skilzzzz....." bang.... "f**k"

can't wait till the gentlemen's agreement of no engine mods finishes between toyota and subaru

pretty sure it was 18 months from them going on sale, so it won't be long now :)

Actually Subaru is only making a limited amount of them. Only 500 will ever reach our shores. Also they are Owned by Toyota, and are doing all the manufacturing of the 86, so there wont be any agreements. They always planned on it being a car for the "Tuners" which is why they haven't really made a performance version. But im still thinking there will be a turbo model out next year.

Any more plans for it Iain?

One of my workmates is going down the tuning path with his VI GTI. I told him he'll never stop at just a tune...

The K04 is the go isn't it - out of the Golf R?

K04 from golf/sirocco R is a good bolt on. plus factory cant tell as its identical from the outside lol

can do skidz, has handbrake :P

mines a turbo petrol, and sedan. the lightest of them all. except the manual, i got DSG. now i can never have a non-dsg car

I dont know if i ever posted a pic of my non-stagea...............

Sorry Iain, you have to own a Stagea to be allowed to post a non Stagea :nyaanyaa:

VAG really know how to make DSG g'boxes. The one in the missus' A3 is outstanding. I even forgive its funny 'lurching' at really slow speeds because the rest is excellent. Does yours do that or did they fix that in later models?

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
