I've just had an engine conversion done on my 95' GTS4, but the front diff was left as the original Stagea diff which is a 4.083 ratio, and I've still got the original GTS4 rear diff which is 4.363 ratio. It runs but if you downshift gears or at low rpm has a good shudder to itself.

Can anyone suggest where I could get a 4.083 rear diff, the cars I know with these ratios are Nissan Stagea Auto and also R34 Non Turbo Automatic, S15 Non Turbo, S14 Turbo/Non Turbo Manual or S13 Turbo/Non Turbo Manual.

Pm any advice

Cheers

Dan

DON'T drive your car anymore! You're going to destroy your transfer case with the different ratios like that.

I have a 4.08 diff in my GTS-T that I'm about to take out, but the reason I'm taking it out is because I suspect the crown and pinion aren't marking up properly...has a lapping sort of noise at around 60-70km/h. Won't know what's wrong with it until I pull it out and inspect. But anything is going to be better than the different ratios you're running...PM if interested.

just get the original 4.363 diff out of your old engine and have it fitted to the new engine. that will solve your problems. in the meantime disable AWD (there is a way to do it for R33s) or as above don't drive the car.

Better still get a pair of 4.1 GTR diffs - good way to get a mechanical LSD (in fact just the 4.1 rear diff may be close enough for the attessa).

Pull the front driveshaft AND pull the awd fuse in the meantime

GTST already run a LSD im quite sure, In regards to the diff, Im sure someone into drag racing would like the short gearing of a GTS4 diff so you shoudlent have trouble sellin ga funding another one to match,

There's a big difference between the pox-ridden uselessness of the viscous LSD in the lesser cars and the mechanical LSD in an R32 GTR.

sorry mate, the only skyline with an LSD worth having is the GTR. they might call the GTST diff an LSD but it's just a crap viscous POS. they were average when brand new and time and kms doesn't make them any better. by now they are nearly all single pegging and unpredictable. you ideal want a GTR diff which are mech 2 way LSD from factory and work very well and can be rebuilt for around $300 to be brand new.

I did the same conversion to my R32 GTS4. I got a Stagea rear diff from one of the import wreckers in Sydney - I think it might have been UAS.

Just get the gears transferred to your diff - I think the Stagea rear is non-LSD, so you certainly don't want the centre out of it.

my bad, i ment the GTS4 has a a decent LSD, unless other can prove otherwise?

On reflection, pretty sure it was Just Jap.
