sup lads!

managed a 1.13.6 in race 2 - a PB

managed 3rd in race 1

superTT = I need more power and less cars in qualfying. could not get any space and managed a 1.15.3

there were about 9 of us doing 1.15 and we all 2 seconds off.

few people on slicks, others not but made for some good battles.

I dont think I'll be racing from now until Jan so my plan is

It was a good day on sunday, and it certainly was busy on track during the qualifying laps, not that much room for anyone at all. What did happen in race 1 chris when the front cars disapeared? Nice work out there also.

Seemed like a really well run event from a spectators point of view there was a really quick turn around on the races and some nice cars there to.

Cheers,

You didnt come and say gidday!!

I dont bite...hard....just ask Ryan, Mark and Andrew :D

hahahahahahaha yeah I had no idea until I got to pits and the other MX5 guys gave me a clap and cheered!

I was too busy concentrating against that Alfa and before I knew it 6 laps was up

but with those other MX5's, Nick in the turbo NA6 came into pits as had coil/plug dramas, and 3 other MX5's followed him thinking that was the end of the race, Nick went back out but because the other 3 had already left pitlane to go into paddock they were not allowed to re-enter.

So 3rd place was mine!! fkn booyaaa I'll take what I can get esp I have the lowest power there!

did you see the big oil down from the future racers? 75% of the track was fubared :(

Ive never had the MX5 that sideways before!!!

so whats your plans? racing next year?

I will be keeping the R33 and will be racing that, pending whether i can keep it street registerd. It seemed that the red evo in the super TT class had number plates, i didnt get a close enough look in the pits and wasnt sure if it was road registered or he just liked number plates, but there seemed to be a few cars without a full cage (unless im blind), so still not sure if i can just put a half cage and keep it registered. I will ring someone in the MRA in the coming weeks and have a chat.

I know i didnt go and say hello, you where in the last pit stall i think, you where chatting and then my shyness kicked in.

Regards,

hahaha all good mate - Im an easy going bloke and love a chat!

infact these MRA guys n gals (majority) are really approachable and friendly!

My mate Ryan in the red SSS doing 1.08's is street rego'd with full cage....until he gets caught..? haha

I dont think they'll allow half cages ? if you have an MX5 you can get away with just a CAMS approved roll bar.

    • Breather for it. If it's anything like the GTRs it should run up to the top of a bellhousing bolt.
    • What basics? With these OBD1 ECUs it's not like the ECU will give you any real clues, it's not really doing any sanity checking of sensors/sensor data. My experience is actually a lot of sensors tend to be the source of the issue first and foremost, and checking everything gives you a direction to investigate. MAF/O2/STFT/LTFT should all kind of make sense. You can try little tricks of the trade like tapping the MAFs to see if it triggers a stumble, things like that. But once you've done a compression test knowing whether you have an air leak or fuel delivery problem is kind of hard to narrow down without sensor data. And you don't really know if all your sensors are making sense unless you can interrogate the ECU directly about what it's seeing for sensor data.
    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
