if your going to buy a car to modifiy dont just look at the car, look at the aftermarket parts/ support otherwise it could cost you later on many $$$$$.

180/silvia = cheap to modifiy.

civic/integra = cheap to modify.

supra/skyline = can get very expensive.

preludes are not cheap to modifiy (i know i have a prelude), it's more expensive to modifiy than a skyline/silvia and you get dont get the 'bang for buck'

i think the silvia/180 is the best way to go, for 5g (on top of the purchase price) you would have a 200kw + engine, basic suspension and brake upgrades and it would beat most of the cars suggested in this thread.

civic/integra can be 'hit and miss' cars, sometimes they can be made to go fast but it can cost $$$ to do it properly, other times it can cost next to nothing to make them go fast.

so make your mind up already.

180/silvia's arn't that cheap to modify, they are very similarly priced to rb25det components, suspension work and wheels the same... things get over the top (for no apparent reason) for rb26dett stuff.

I tried to bid too low for a 3rd Gen '88 Prelude that had done only 106000km with logs. Missed out on the $4500 car. Back then it could outslalom all lambos/ferraris/porsches. Mechanical 4ws is reliable whereas electronic 4ws on 4th Gen is not.

God_speed was driving his 3rd Gen through some mild twisties and the Falcon in trying to keep up, careened off into a rock wall. Panels flying off.......

cheers matthew, its looking like ill stick to the EG/EK civic or i found a nice DC2 integra for sale ..

that looks like a nice car.

btw you can get cheap honda parts out of ebay usa at the moment, if you look for a dealer and buy more then one part, you will get a discount (plus warranty).

skunk2 has a good name for performance parts for hondas, mugen is a obvious choice, 5zigen ect.

be careful of fake parts,if it doesn't say ' genuine' in the ad it's not. :glare:

good luck with your car. :)

That DC2 belongs to E3lipse on here (Melvin).

what a coincidence looks like it was meant to be thumbsup.gif

mmm not really a fan of the hatch civics ...

are the main ones im considering with civics

EK coupe looks good, but im leaning towards the EG vti, if i can pick that up around 2.5k .. leaves me with 2.5 more to work on brakes/suspension etc, and it may already be decent fun on tracks since the vti comes with a (slightly) more powerful engine - wiki says 96kw vs 74

but the EK already has 17s and probably better tyres as well - that in itself would probably cost me a good 2k making up for the difference in price of car?

I'm studying in UWA man... :P Might have seen me driving around from college to business school or broadway?

im studying there too haha i have a dark blue 34 GT with impul sides/rear and green P plates, but that only comes down very rarely, most of the time you would see me in a black hyundai accent or a white Sexcel whistling.gif im too scared to take the skyline to uni - people always open their doors into my cars!

pretty cool how we're both on SAU, both go UWA and live right next to each other lol!

edit: My dads mechanic specialises in Euros, namely porsche, bmw, ferrari etc but services anything and he offers a good rate if you do go ahead with ^. He looked after my 924, M3 etc in the past.

I had a 924, was really cheap to run, didn't cost me anything out of the ordinary.. But like I said, you can use my dads mechanic (family friend) if you buy it...

Go drive the thing, the balance of them are amazing...... Took my 924 through mundaring weir road and it was just great.

edit: They are a 4cyl btw and parts from the UK are cheap and plentiful.
