Hey guys, just wondering if all powerFC computers have a plug for a hand controller? Because mine has no sockets for any type of plugs around the case?

As my mates pfc is identical besides he has the plug holes :/ so im a bit confused.. Is it just the outside case that is different?

Cheers

Im not sure what case they come with normally.. Mine bolts up to the original location - unlike my mates, he has to zip tie his up but has the holes for the controller.

So looks like ill have to pull te case off and see - is there anything i need to be aware of when taking the case off?

Mine is on an R33GTS-t so I don't know if it is different to the 32GTR, but it still bolts up to the original location - the cases are identical apart from the holes for the hand controller and boost controller.

Taking it apart is easy; kinda just like taking an amp apart - some screws and it then just pulls apart. You should be able to tell very easily if it has the socket for the hand controller - as far as I know all PFCs do.

I reckon someone has done a stealth install and just switched the cases, as I can quite eaily pull my PFC out of it's case and put it into the normal ECU case and vice versa. If you really get stuck I can dig up some photos - pretty sure I took some shots when I had it apart a while ago.

Normally your new PFc is supplied with 2-pieces of double sided tape, 50mm x 50mm, that's the mounts but it jambs in pretty tightly anyway.

Your case would also have an outlet for the MAP sensor (boost kit), not just the hand commander socket.

I altered mine by just using the Nissan covers.

I then get mounting brackets and it looks factory.

Yeh meant to be two sockets, mine has nothing..

It looks identical to a std computer with the mounts but has pfc logo on top.. Easily changable though.

So all pfc computers should have these plug sockets? And it should be under my case.. I can only hope!

Yep - all should have - unless you have a stock ECU in a PFC case?

How did you go?

Haha funny you say that.. because as i pulled the cover off i found no hand controller plugs etc.. so someone has just put a pfc case on the top.

Anyway i un screwed another circuit board off and discovered a "VS DATA ROM" veilside sticker on the computer chip underneath.. so im pretty sure its been chipped? as you cant tune a std computer, i believe..

plus i dont have a rev limiter, as std limits at 8200rpm for memory and mine goes past.. so someone has been playing around with this computer.

All i want to do is set my rev limiter at the moment and later on down the track once i get more performace parts etc ill need to get a tune.. would any dyno place be able to tune this 'veilside chip' or 'sticker' as i have read?

Why set the rev limiter? If u hit the limiter u run the risk of breaking ur oil pump.

Jap tuners leave the limiter high to avoid this, but they rely on the driver to avoid over revving

Yeh i was reading that the other day DVS JEZ, which i dont want to risk that.. So i was just thinking of installing a shift light, its the easier option. Anyone know of any good shift lights to install?

    • The trigger kit I have is similar to the one in the link below. While going through Facebook, I saw someone else mention a similar issue, and I’m starting to think this could be related to the crank gear itself. I understand these parts are CNC machined, but maybe some earlier versions or individual pieces might have slight inconsistencies—it just doesn’t look right in my case. https://www.facebook.com/share/16an8evZd9/?mibextid=wwXIfr I originally installed the crank gear using the thin OEM washer, but as shown in the attached photo, the timing belt walks very close to the edge. When I tried using a Nitto washer—which is thicker—it actually made the issue worse. The belt walks about 1mm off the front edge, which raises more concern about alignment.   I’ve gone through the full process of elimination:   The tensioner pulley and bolt are brand new and installed correctly. The bolt isn’t bent and is oriented properly. The back of the tensioner and the idler pulley are clean and seated correctly. The idler sits slightly more forward, which I understand is due to its design. I’ve experimented with both tight and loose belt tension, but it makes no difference. As soon as the engine runs, the belt immediately walks forward again—even if I reset it beforehand.     At this point, I’m considering replacing the crank gear with your Race Version 1 (12-tooth), but before purchasing, I wanted to ask:   Are you aware of any alignment issues when using this gear? Would this gear help keep the belt aligned correctly, or could the walking still occur? Does it work with a standard missing-tooth crank and rear washer? Is there any specific crank setup or install procedure required?     For reference, I’m not using a front washer, as the PRP crank gear seems to replace the need for one.   Looking forward to your advice.
    • Yep, looks that way. Never driven an E30 or R31 so I can only imagine
    • Yuh, My new R34 box is sitting on the workshop floor (in its large shipping box, which is a nice thing on its own), along with a front plate to convert to push clutch. There was no way I was interested in rebuilding my existing one. Was only partly interested in the risk of buying a used one. But, if you want a 2nd hander, I can point you to one in/near Melbourne at least. @Komdotkom has one that should be in good enough condition to be usable. I don't think it's in a for sale thread, you'd have to message him. @redzedhas one that definitely needs a rebuild.
