Can I Wind Boost Up Without Tune

Hey guys I'm running a series 2 rb25 in my Vl it has stock turbo running just actuator 3inch turbo back. However still stock dump pipe and a microtech ecu. I have a turbotech manual boost controller. If I was to wind the boost up to 12 will I need a retune. The car runs rich now if that makes a diff

N get rid of that stock dump pipe before winding the boost up, they are a tournique.

Yeah got front mount and no cat Yeah next thing I wad going to do was change dump to a jjr bellmouth

split can cause boost issues. bellmouth is good. and i would get a tune. or at least check the afr's

Shouldn't need to after changing the dump the and if it was the stock ECU I would say it will throw a fit somewhere around 10psi.

Who tuned the mircotech? or are you running on base maps?

increasing boost without a tune is both dangerous and sometimes completely useless. you could see no gain at all if something is holding it back (besides the boost). a tune isn't that expensive.

Bubba Autoworx tuuned it however the tuner has left and I'm looking at using ovaboost now but I just want to change dump for now and not bother with boost yet just dump as mentioned it's running 10 now and dump is restricting it just that little bit

Ok well if it has been tuned for where it's at then you really want another tune ASAP if winding more boost into it (wouldn't bother trying to run more boost until you put the new dump on though).

Yeah I'll change dump I need to get another tune for emissions soon anyway so I'll put the dump on then when needed get the emissions tune done then a re tune for power

If I put the dump on should I tune it or not cause I don't need emissions for at least a few months

Nah I wouldn't bother after just changing the dump unless after changing the dump it's making a few more psi.
