RE regularity - its not about going as fast as you want. To win you need to nominate a time a fair bit slower than you're capable of to factor in the traffic you'll encounter on most laps. Its for old blokes who like maths and stuff. Its like a big average speed run. Boring. James May would revell in it! What other kind of motorsport can you win even if you're the slowest mofo out there? yawn...

You've been watching too much Top Gear! You CAN go as fast as you want, or whatever pace suits you. That's the beauty of it.

It's less complicated and more fun than you think.

1. Nominate a lap time.

2. Go out and try to acheive that nominated time every lap (as best or as close too).

That's it!

Not necessarily.

It goes both ways. Slower cars are affected by having to deal with faster cars also.

Also they group you with similiar paced cars so there is less chance of catching each other.

You seem to think these events are made up of slow cars and people that love calculators but you are wrong.

I've had friends set PB's at regularity events.

It's quite a skill being able to lap within 1/2 second (or less) for 5 sessions.

Something that I know most professional race drivers and teams hold in high regard.

yeah, up here regularity is for the old slow blokes in their old slow cars who don't want to do sprints or supersprints or otherwise go fast - just nominate a time and go out there and trundle around as if you're going to the shops. So its no place for even rerasonably quick cars here, all you'd get is a dozen other cars lapping 10-30sec slower.

Those who want to go fast do sprints or supersprints up here.

Well without most of the crap (mostly unread) above we have a fairly full field - as far as sprints and supersprints and or hillclimbs or racing - read the supp regs, if thats the rules and you want to run - do it, if you don't like it don't!

Don't wait for CAMs to change it cause we all know that won't happen.

Just a bit on the side with regards to regularity - some people find this quite interesting - that aren't so old and without beards - Karen ran our car R33 for 1st time at Bathurst Easter this year, and I will bet not many of you can do sub 1.45's around Bathurst - 3rd time bum in seat - 2 supersprints - sorry QLDers Sprints at EC as a warm up - this warm up including speeds in excess of 260 plus k's and as with superprints/ sprints / hillclimbs and regularity Karen loved doing all, better than what I have to put up with, if this is door to door would you like your car in this field - this is why people do sprints, supersprints, regularity as a stepping stone - to my belief this bloke has done none!

To anyone running, if you need any help give us a yell

Cheers Stuart

lol that's one of the commonwhores from my category, production cars. the car he took out in turn 1 is a very experienced rally driver but new circuit guy, must have been quite a surprise.

Anyway....good luck for those entering the EC national sprint....but definately not for me at that price to track time ratio

Hey Duncan

Your price factor is right but it is a bit of a set up for us for 2012 hopefully and a title wouldnt go astray after a busy *%F&d - mixed year.

Although running sports sedans we were watching that particular race - yeah what the F*$k can I say!

He won't be running at Irace, I think should go back to playstations games. (WHich I am sure is still trying to get better than last)

Whats your plans next year Dunc - how bout some Irace? Jap Class / track time? Looking

I will be probably more pen pushing than pedals - have to have a chat, any new ideas or classes welcome - not 500 - for diffrent coloured window tint etc LOL

Catch up soon

Cheers

S & K

lol you think one bloke complaining is crap, try turning up only to find a bunch of interstate complainers have changed the event you paid money and entered to run as per the supp regs - as you say "read the supp regs, if thats the rules and you want to run - do it, if you don't like it don't!" :domokun:

ah, the irony...

my plans next year? probably a last season with the 32 in prod cars, then build something a little quicker. It is getting very long in the tooth and no chance against other things like evo X running a "standard" 1.6bar (I get 0.8 bar).

I would like to do some more irace/aasa/mra etc but it always depends on when the car is running, state round dates and budget ;)

Hi Harry

Maybe you might want to look at this - every state is more than two and interstaters even QLD'ers that I spoke to had a ball.

As you know, the Australian Supersprint Championship has been held over the last two days at Eastern Creek along with the last Round of this year’s NSW State Supersprint Championship. So far as the Australian Championship is concerned, trophies were awarded to the first 3 Outright placegetters as well as to 17 Class winners. I’m very pleased to report that the 3 Outright place trophies were won by NSW State Supersprint Registrants and 15 of the Class trophies were also won by NSW State Supersprint Registrants. A great effort by the NSW guys. Details of the Australian Championship will be published later. The NSW Results were brought about by great preparation and effort plus a touch of local knowledge. I competed today and have to say that I was lucky enough to meet many of our interstate competitors from every state with the exception of Tasmania. To a tee they are great competitors and good guys who would love to meet us on their own turf.

Andrie Tan was the Outright National Champion in his Type 5 Radical with a time of 1.30.048

Stuart Inwood was second in his Type 4 Ford V8 Supercar with a Type and Class record breaking time of 1.35.994

Jason Wright was just a couple of tenths behind in third place in his Type SV WRX with another Type and Class record breaking time of 1.36.209

Hi Roy

The whole car still runs touring car spec, including 5ltr and control Kumho Tyres S700's - 280x680x17

There has been issues with these tyres over the past few meetings and Kumho are addressing the matter.

Pending correspondence with Kumho and another manufacturer, we may be changing brands for next year, being for size options, compounds and hoping to knock about 200kgs out of the car and still do full floor sports sedans + Irace

Budget pending, if any - mid year would like to try 347 stroker bottom end, to boost us from under 500hp to 700+

At the moment thats the dream!

Cheers

Stuart

What tyres are you running the AU on?

Thanks Duncan

Watch the dirty bit - Karen got BP car for Shannons Muscle Car Masters this year, but your right still a taxi - anyways the taxi fitted the budget at the time and 99% of works we can carry out ourself, which is more than I can say for our brand new block, head (gen N1 from Japan) etc rebuild given to a chap in Sydney - apparently have to try again - apparently someone didn't check the deck height. Lets leave it at that.

Anyways the taxi keeps you fit, lol anyways I can drink more beer.

I reckon its about your shout Dunc.

Congrats on your win Stu, even if it was in a dirty taxi. Another national trophy for the pool room

    • I'm hoping I just don't have to do an engine rebuild NOW. Doesn't mean I won't do it at some point. I think a plus point is that the car presumably ran on or close to stock power nearly all it's life so far. Only the Owner I bought it from actually increased power with a standalone ECU and blew the OEM turbos. And after it got thee 2860s it wasn't driven an awful lot either.   That is what I meant. With the twins coming on so late (4500-5000rpm) I hope the rods won't want to exit the block prematurely. And it still being a 26 means the torque curve isn't gonna hike up all that much.   It didn't blow up on the dyno when they tuned it to 500ish crank. So I suppose it'll be okay for now. They did put a Tomei head gasket on first though which did not seal at all, and they redid it with a Cometic one. Which I hope won't be my water leak.   Mainly anything oil. So far all it has is the N1 pump, oil restrictor and a filter relocation kit with a cooler.
    • 15000? ish? Something like that anyway. It wasn;t so much a wear as a tear that then spread. Might have lasted a lot longer if not bothered by just one incident, whatever it was. I took a punt. They are really comfortable and do a good job of holding. My daughter HATED it when I first put them in, and probably still does now. She has sensory issues and hates the way they are all up your business. I'm 197cm and 95kg. Not fat or particularly wide, and the XL size seat is the rigth fit. If I was any fatter it would start to get too snug. Any skinnier and you'd possibly want the smaller width.
    • Mrs rs focus came factory with recaro cs  sportsters in it and they a pain in the ass to get in and out of with the really high bolsters, once you were in them they were one of the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in
    • The NA 2.5 has very little torque. You won't feel much. Those trannies are also a million years old now and it could well be f**ked. First generation electronically controlled autos will often refuse to kick down, ete, etc, depending on what's wrong with them.
    • Yes, but no but yes but no. Those "it's fine up to 500HP" rules and everything else like it were all determined back when the cars were 10 years old. As they are now 30 years old.....what do you reckon the chances of something shitting the bed are? I'd say they are much higher now than they used to be. You might be lucky. You might be unlucky. Spin the wheel and find out. Yeah, nah. It's actually exactly the opposite. Making boost early and having heaps of torque able to be generated right in the middle of the rev range will do more to damage an engine than having to rev it high to make the power. Think about the load on the conrods, bearings, etc, to make 400HP at 4000 rpm, vs 400 HP at 6500 rpm. So someone has already "let the Nissan out" which is how we describe the increased chance of a fiddled with engine to have had something done wrongly. Many more engines that have been opened die than stock ones do - even if you into consideration how they are treated wrt power levels and the like. Again, not saying that yours will definitely have been put back together by a moron. But the possibility does exist. It's still a lottery. Spin the wheel. What weakspots?
