At least with AASA sprints in Q road registered cars are seperated from race only cars, although as usual there will always be someone trying to make up for their lack of driving skill by cheating. So I suggest that is where Harry is coming from, some sort of class where the car differences are not too ridiculous.

How anyone can think, let alone say, that an ex V8 Supercar fits comfortably into a sprints scenario is beyond my comprehension. Must be a CAMS thing.

Agree with Evil-weevil as well.

Harry - you need to take a chill pill. Getting all worked up over an event you didn't even attend lol! You're funny as.

Supersprints aren't for road cars anymore, get over it. The rule/regs allow for unregistered cars to compete.

If you want to compete against road cars only, maybe you need to find an event that only allows road registered cars entry.

Also, why can't someone go and buy a radical/open wheeler/V8Supercar or sports sedan and enter in sprints?

You might be thinking "why would they bother?" Maybe they like the style of event and don't want to go door to door racing, who knows?

It's still an achievement for them personally if they beat their PB or set new PB's for the car.

It's a free country, they are free to enter the competition, so suck it up princess and move along!

I never said sprints were for road cars only. The reference to road cars there comes from the fact Stuart was complaining about road cars being allowed to run on slicks which end up in the same class as his V8 Supercar from what I understand... or for road cars with capacities over 6000cc being allowed to enter... obviously he considers those things unfair, but bringing out a V8 Supercar (and now pretending it ain't) is all in the spirit of the event. Have a look at the other entries in that class to see why some people think its a bit of a dick move. At least it pretty much assured that he wouldn't get beaten by a road reg HPE Elise with a dirty cheating diffuser this time, eh? Maybe if he didn't spend so much time whinging about everyone else's cars, he wouldn't be coping this flack?

At least the radicals and open wheelers all have their own categories, no harm there. They're racing very similar vehicles on a pretty level pitch. That's a pretty different situation.

I seriously don't see what the issue is?.....Are you guys that desperate to win a sprint championship?

or are you there to enjoy yourselves?

It happens everywhere....Street Series drag racing....sounds simple enough, until you're lined up beside a 3/4 chassis blown alcohol car that runs 8's

or Moslers and GT3 Ferrari's turning up at MRA events

If you want parity, go buy a HQ or a Gemini and run in a one make series...even then there will always be faster guys who know how to bend the rules better than anyone else.

Edit - Eg...I was disqualified and had points stripped for having a 2 step in the car...but cars with delay boxes were still allowed to run...despite myself classing a delay box as a form of launch control

Word on the street is that triple 8 are destrought about a falcon supercar holding some type of "Aussie title"

Apparently Roland has already lodged a formal protest and submitted an early entry to next years "title event" they want to double enter car 88 for loundes and whincup.

In all seriousness though hats off to inwood. The "Aussie super sprint" title has got to be one of the few titles an SBR built car has actually managed to win in recent years.......

what I was referring to was guys complaining about a supercar being entered...lets face it...ive seen road cars with more power, fancier suspension and aero than a supercar.

Would you guys be complaining about a Porsche 935 with 800hp more wing than an F15E and 345 wide slicks....as long as it had plates a few of you sound like that would be ok.

In a run what you brung type of event you have to expect people to bring super quick cars.

Same goes with the current classes...sure they need a little tweak to match current technology cars.

But would you rather have 217 different classes so there is 1 or 2 cars in each class over the entire year...or hey I was only x seconds off a *insert whatever you want here* that was in my class.

NHRA and ANDRA tried the 11ty different classes thing and it didn't work....I cant see it working in circuit stuff either

From a novice point of view I thought sprints was initially built around road cars, those days are gone I assume and its whatever is the quickest being from dollars or talent will "win" the day.

I understand some of the gripes people have, mine is people over/undertaking me mid corner in there race car when I'm in my daily.

Rules are awesome, but rarely followed.

My class would be "short fat men with more money than talent", I'm guessing that would be a big class.

Slicks are for race cars, not road registered cars. That should be obvious.

It's in the spirit of what running a road registered car is about and cetainly slicks are not legal for road use whereas a lot of semis are. CAMS seem to recognise this with their list of approved semi slick tyres, pity it's not applied to CAMS sprints.

over here sprints and hillclimbs are seperate. Hillclimbs have always been about the open wheeler F.Libres, which are in seperate classes and other homemade hillclimb specials which run in things like 2A sports cars open.

Just like motorkhanas have specials in their own seperate classes.

All's fair in those basicaly no limits classes. And its good to see those outright vehicles going head to head on equal terms.

Its worth noting that after what happened last year, not a single QLD competitor from last year's Aus Championships entered this year. Tells you something...

As far as club level hillclimbs and sprints / supersprints alike - if you look at the entry lists, we have moslers, Loyla / indy lights, Pilbeams, Goulds, Chetah etc, chevy monza's, ex Carling cars, Stinson, Litchenburger, Mcfadden, Steve Richards, (ran with last year), Ivan Tighe cars, and the list goes on

- if you dont have carefree's up there pm your address and I will send you a box.

Oh and as far as the Lotus beating me by 2.5 second, I did the right thing and congratulated him on the day. Good on him, he won the day. Didnt see him at Eastern Creek to defend his to title.

Cheers

wow, that was big of you. now that you remembered that one of the QLDers beat you...

have you remembered its a V8 Supercar yet? or are you still pretending it isn't?

by now it should be obvious why not one of the QLDers in last year's event turned up this year. Who's to say we wouldn't have turned up only to find the entire format of the event was something other than what the supp regs said when we entered again??? f**k that jack. They probably want to have fun, not be bullied around by uber political whingers who want everything their own way, but still lose, so 3 months later go a buy a V8 Supercar to make sure you can bludgeon all the amatuer built cars next year... good onya champ
