On the way home from work I was going about 70kph, accelerated at about half or so throttle up to about 90kph and the gauges started flickering, the radio muted and what I would assume is a warning message appeared on the nav screen. After this happened I managed to recreate the fault a couple of times over the next 1km doing the same thing, slowing down to 70kph and then accelerating at around half, three quarter throttle but then after another 1km I couldn't get it to do it again.

I will see if it does it again tomorrow but has anyone else experienced this and have any idea what it could be? I have done some google searching with no luck and might start looking through the g37 manual for something similar.

Cheers

Al

i get that random japanese msg once in awhile. it's def a warning of some sort...i hope it's not too serious. the lady sounds polite, so i can't tell if she is warning me about that hobo holding onto my boot or telling me to have a nice day...:whistling:

Lol, I get that warning too every now and then, I thought that she was just commenting on the size of my package....

The warning that I am talking about is a written warning that appears on the screen not an audible warning. It stays on for a couple of seconds and then disappears, the car is otherwise acting normally.

BTW has anyone noticed that when the Japanese lady welcomes you every morning that one of the messages she uses (I'm pretty sure there are at least 2 different ones) sounds like she says "Konichiwa G'DAY MATE"!!!???!!!

Listen closely and you will hear what I am talking about.

LOL! ahhh those japanese know when to give respect, when respect is due :worship:

I got a weird error a few weeks ago (only once)

heaps of errors came up and it said that all my doors, boot and hood was open. that freaked me out because it kept beeping like a mofo.

Never hear an audio welcome message when I start the car up, usually it just does its "ding ding" noise and that's it, but the woman never speaks. Maybe she doesn't like me, lol :) The only time she speaks to me is if my Bluetooth disconnects and the visual message also appears to confirm it (it never used to do this in mine, until I messed around with some settings and she started to announce it.) Mine is a 2007 350GT sedan type SP, with navigation and no cruise, may be different with the 370GT or 2008 onwards, never seen this error on mine though and I've had it for a year.

What year is your car guys? Any mods? Any other warning lights (like VDC/SLIP/transmission/oil pressure/battery) coming up? Engine sound normal? May help to narrow it down to a year, specific type of car, features, etc. I've tried searching G35Driver and MyG37 and got no results matching this problem specifically, maybe take someone with you in the car to take a pic when it happens and then translate it from there... probably the most obvious thing to do, if there is a clear error message there, best to try figure out what it's trying to say.

Lol, show her your package...?

she often lets me know that my door is open when driving.. i would love to know what shes saying.. "your door is open!" maybe?

how often do you drive with your doors open? surely, that wouldnt be very aerodynamic?:nyaanyaa:

Thanks for all of the HIGHLY constructive assistance there gentlemen! <INSERT SARCASM>

It turns out that it was a very simple issue. It did not happen the entire way to work this morning but when I stopped at the BP for fuel, the entire car was dead when I tried to restart. As soon as this happened I popped the hood, checked the battery terminals and VOILA, the positive terminal was very loose and must have been bouncing around whilst driving yesterday. I probably did not tighten the nut properly after I reinstalled my HID's a few weeks ago, either that or I have battery Gremlins living in the garage (good thing I'm moving this weekend I guess). I would imagine that the warning that was appearing on the nav screen was saying something like "Mr Honourable Driver, your vehicle is suffering from lack of electrical current at the moment. Please inspect the electrical system at your earliest convenience. And by the way, your package is looking great as usual" or at least something along those lines.

I too have a nice Japanese lady that talks to me occasionally.

The music goes down a few decibels, she says something, but I have no warning lights or messages on the dash.

I cannot recreate the circumstances that it occurs in, but I'm considering grabbing a Japanese friend and driving around until they can tell me what she is saying.

If she is saying it on all of our cars at random times then I am pretty certain that it is not a warning of any type. Would be nice to find out though, I wish that there was a way to have the entire manual translated that wouldn't cost me $20,000. The SATNAV specific manual is actually bigger than the manual for the rest of the car....must be a good system, shame it is useless!

yeha tell me about it

gutted that we can't use the cars full potential

imagine when they bring it out here via infiniti, how funny would it be if they used an ocker accent for the voice.

The novelty of the japanese voice wore off on me after a week because the sat nav would constantly show my car driving off into the pacific ocean & the voice would pipe in every 2 minutes probably saying something like "sir you are driving into the ocean, watch out for gamera"

I quickly found out you can turn it off completely by turning down the volume while she's speaking, I also found out by playing with the nav menu how to turn it on & off

LOL!

mate, just get your iphone synced with the car and play your music

i havent heard the GPS talk to me yet. however, i do like the fact that my car thinks it can fly over the pacific...

My wife is Japanese, the voice in the car was talking to me about the toll thingy on the dash. When I start the car it would ask to insert the toll card. There’s a slot lower right near air con and a little black bar thingy on the left on the dash.
Other than that, she hardly talks to me at all (the woman in the computer, not my wife)
I have replaced the head unit etc for a tesler style screen. Really nice but have to sort out a few issues with Phoenix automotive ie air con controls, no rear camera etc. but looks awesome and no more Japanese car computer in my ear as I drive.
