hey guys!

I have an R34 GTT, with R34 GTR wheels on it (18 inch x 9 inch +30 offset) and 255 x 40 x 18 tyres

the guards have been rolled.

i can get 280 x 30 (i dont think it was 35) x18 tyres for the same price as 255 x (35) x 18. and any width in between basically... like 265 275 etc

would they be much harder to fit under the rear guards than what is currently there? (currently - Falken semi slicks 255x40x18)

what would you guys recommend? whats the biggest people have had on their r34 gtts?

thanks

Falken Semi slicks? What sort?

What brand is the 280? I wasn't aware there is a 280 on the market.

Either 275 or 285 - A 285 on a 9" rim, not going to go well.

their falken Azenis im fairly sure... They were on the wheels when i got them...

it must be 285 x 30 x 18 then i guess... they are bridgestones...

thanks for the input ash :)

i guess i will have to give them a miss go with smaller, there was 265 and 275's aswell im not sure of the brand though... and 255's i think... all with a 35 sidewall..

is 275 still going to be pushing it? should i just stick with the 255 or 265's...?

Hmmm sounds like you just have high performance street tyres on there ATM, not a semi?

As for the Bridgestone - It largely depends on the actual tyre you are going to put on there and it could be 255 or 265.

What tyre are you actually looking at?

ive found a link to what are currently on my car, they are similar to these, but mine are a 255/ 40/ 18

im not sure if ud call them a semi slick or a high performance street tyre....

those bridgestone were a 28* (something) so it must have been 285... i was only looking at them breifly, but if there too big i will look into something smaller... i was working at the time and just in the tyre shop quickly so didnt get enough details really....

i will look into the 255 and 265's as a better option. But i will have to suss out what brands the two of them were...

for a 9inch rim 255 or 265 is as big as you want to go. 275 and bigger is too big for a 9inch wide rim. and unlikely they'll fit within the guards anyway. 255 is ideal but if you really want wider for some reason then by all means get the 265.

might tack onto this thread

i have r33 gtr rims as my track rims for my r34 gtt, i'm yet to put tyres on them

my original thought was just a 235/45

could i get away with a 255 with maybe 40 profile? with no modding to guards required?

yep probably can. 235 is fine on the R33 rims in semi slicks (they are generally wider in any given size than road tyres in that same size). 245 or 255 will be fine too. but if using road tyres I would say the 235s are a little small and go for 245 or 255. not sure how you'll go on the front but all the options above will fit on the rear fine and to be honest I think fronts will be fine too with a sensible ride height.

yeah well they're going to be federal rsr, so still a street tyre i suppose

car isn't really low at all, still something i need to fix up but i don't plan on going too much further anyway

Hey man I just put some GTR wheels on my GTT and I can *just* fit 265's with rolled guards on the back. Not sure how much bigger you could squeeze in but I wouldn't want to anyway. :P

Just as in they dont hit at all or they can bottom out or?

it will either be 265s or 255 after reading ur opinions (thanks brett and richard!)

It has 255/40/18s atm does any1 know how much wider a 265/35/18 would be? i asume only 1cm or so...

i will scrap the idea of 275's... id like 265's still if possible as a wider tyre is going to grip better off the line i asume, and the 265 should handle better right? and i think thicker tyres look better to be honest..

255 will be perfect on the 18X9 in rim. the first number is the 'section width' of the tyre in mm. they are not the overall width but close. so a 265 will generally be 10mm wider than a 255 of the same brand and type of tyre. in the same brand and type the difference between a 255 and a 265 will be pretty hard to notice on the street. honestly I'd go the 255 for a couple of reasons. it's a very popular size so probably a bit cheaper, the wider 265 will be more prone to aqua plane in the wet and the wider 265 will also tramline more than the 255. about the only advantage of the 265 is the look (if you prefer that).

Just want to confirm that 18x9 +30 fitment in other wheels will be fine for r34 GTT? Will I need to do any work or should they bolt on directly with no probs ?

they should fit just i think... same size as my wheels but my guards were already slightly rolled...
