Hey guys,

Was driving the other day and got a stone chip on my roof down to the metal

Its been two days and I haven't noticed any rust just wandering what is the best way to go about touching it up.

Do I just apply touch up paint or do I need to apply something else prior to the touch up paint?

Cheers.

Ross

Ok will do.

Just out of curiousity does anyone know how log it takes for the metal of an evo to rust after being exposed???

I mean it would be nearly impossible not to mentionn inpractical going around looking for stone chips after every drive.

Weeks to months, depends on how much moisture is in the air, exposure to rain etc.

I'd suggest a dab of primer onto the exposed metal, then apply touch-up paint. And it's a good idea to get it fixed before the chip becomes worse, rust like to spread under the paint! a mates GTR needed a big touch-up as rust had gone under the surrounding chips and I had to scrape paint away to get rid of rust!!

dabbing a bit of etch primer on would've been the way to go, but it won't be that bad with just the touch up paint. Realistically the primer probably wouldn't have helped much more than the touch up paint on its own unless you were to give the chip a quick sand first to knock off any rust that had started to develop, and that would probably cause more problems than it solved.
