Your just good at reading minds ROLLS, Seriously how can you apply any grammar rules to this guys statements. Not one is completely grammatically correct. So he remembered ONE comma, Whats one comma when you specify 'ONE' unit. The buyer needs to work on his grammer, and the distributor probably should have asked for clarification if there was any doubt(of which I can see plenty by everyones interpretations). And if the buyer refused to be clear in exactly what he was asking then I would have refused to do business personally. If you received a phone call from someone that spoke like that, how well do you think your order would have gone? He might have well been speaking slang.

Try telling that to an English professor, they will tell you that you certainly can be grammatically correct. If he requested ONE unit and had NO comma then it is perfectly clear that he only wants one unit. "extra special" is basically slang for 'good, working, above average, perfect" etc.

All the banter was that the distributor thought he wanted two units, the buyer only wanted one unit, and due to his large distance he wanted an "extra special" unit, eg one that won't break as he is so far away! If he wrote "extra, special" eg he included the comma then it would have been unclear and you could think "does he want one or two units?", but that wasn't the case, the grammar was correct and makes sense.

Something that makes your posts a tad easier to read is "quoting" posts eg using the quote button or "html" tags like

[/ quote .]

etc

Yea, but after the "extra special unit" I did not stop there,....I went on to say where I was from which is far and it would be lots of headache to return, so that by itself should of cleared up any doubts

He mentioned this second unit thing before in another thread and I had no idea what he was talking about, and to tell you the truth if he hadnt highlighted it in that statement above, I still would not have had a clue where he got that idea from.

And even though, if he really thought I did want a second item, what was the big deal to tell me no, that's not possible, or that I would have to pay for the next one???

Anyway I'm over it.....I have my Datalogit and couldnt be happier, and I have asked that my personal info be deleted, and/or everything else, if the mods see fit.

What happens when you go to Mc Donalds or enter in fast food restaurant name here and use slang to order your food...

1. Spit in you food or worse

2. Your order will just plain be wrong

What are the odds that you will get exactly what you want?

Then there is the fact that if you look at ever post by this guy in this thread that he does not check his grammar, so how can you interpret exactly what he meant in any sense. And that just makes any translation that much harder, because the reader has no idea if the writer meant to put a comma in or not. Add the run on sentences, incomplete sentences, and mis-spelled words and its a miracle anyone perceived this writers intentions.

Your personal information should be deleted/removed from this public thread. I did blank it out when I quoted it.

Total agreement there.

The fact he wrote "ONE UNIT", then wrote "extra special unit" implying a really good single unit, then qualified WHY he wanted an "extra special unit" is 3 reasons why he wanted a single unit, there was nothing to interpret, it was blatant what he wanted lol.

I can see how 'extra special unit' on its own might need clarifying especially if you are from another country but in this case it was pretty explicit.

The reason why I arked up over this is the distributor decided to post his personal email up, I think that is very unprofessional especially over a misunderstanding that was their own fault.

That was my translation as well

"Seems to me the writer is requesting ONE unit that is basically guaranteed to work upon arrival because there is extended ship time."

But someone should have requested clarification if there was any doubt in the translation. A simple check over and revision of the original email from the buyer in the first place would have insured this, if there was any doubt by the seller it should have been followed by a request for that clarification or a confirmation of what they thought the order was.

poor grammar+poor communications=this situation.

Hey, I'm on your side!

He did use it correctly, the fact he didn't use a comma meant he wanted an 'extra special unit' not an 'extra, special unit'. The distributor who posted his PRIVATE email up on a message board interpreted it as if he had put a comma in.

The distributor is in the wrong x2.

I cant believe there is so much debate about what the guy meant. Is this a skyline forum or year 10 english? blink.gif

Anyone worth their salt knows that "extra special" means he wanted sprinkles on it. Nothing more. yes.gif

On topic again. Who elses datalogit has played up and why? How did you fix the problem? Maybe this thread could be useful... yucky.gif

For all of you who have any doubts:

http://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/american/pair#an-extra-pair-of-hands

from Macmillan Dictionary

PHRASES

an extra pair of hands

another person who can help you to do something

An extra pair of hands will make the job that much easier.

in analogy:

could you send me an extra special unit,

another unit which can help you to do something

Oh well...Here is my extra special datalogit.

YOU STOLE MY BLOODY SPRINKLES!

Give 'em back!

PS, And dont you dare eat any of them!

Im holding your dictionary hostage so that I can black male you into getting my sprinkles back... now what!?:nyaanyaa:

Yes I hopped a jet out there, broke into your house, took your dictionary off the shelf, tucked it into my luggage, and made it home in time for dinner. My Sprinkles.:P

Edited by DatsunMotorSports

Technically they are my wifes sprinkles. I pinched them out the cupboard while she is at work. I'd better put them back before she gets home or we will al be in very big trouble. All the excuses in the dictionary wont help us then. She is a teacher as well so she could very well hand out detention and then we'd all be f**ked.

hey guys which windows is best for datalogit, XP or earlier versions..??

just reformatting an old craptop, the graphics is shot but it will only be used for the datalogit so should do the job..

Do I need to add the sprinkles or is that optional

Providing the software actually runs and you have no comport/usb issues it shouldn't matter. If the software is old it may not support 64bit that is all I can think of.

I'd just put 32bit XP on there if this is all you are going to use it for, will be a little bit faster if you don't have much RAM.

    • Yeah, the advent of canbus was supposed to cut down on wiring weight, then some bright marketing wonk says "oh, look at all these wonderful tech gadgets we can cram in here now that we have this wonderous technology" and some arsehole safety legislator says "oh, look at all the wonderful surveillance and tracking gadgets we can cram in here now that we have this wonderous technology" and some dipshit young engineer who has grown up thinking that an extra 500000 lines of code is not a problem because storage is cheap these days says "oh look at all this wonderful shit I can do to one up those dipshit arsholes over at VW" and the Karens of the world all go "oh look at all these fancy things I can do on my screen (so long as I am not driving on a bumpy road wherein touch screens immediately become the single most stupid shit idea ever shoveled into a car) and my 19 zone airconditioning keeps my sweaty fat folds a bit less damp and the windows close themselves because I'm too fat and lazy to wind them up for myself and these reversing sensors would have been great if I'd paid attention to them instead of smashing them on the bollard while I was reversing and staring fixedly forward that day I went to pick up little Charlize from ballet" and the sweaty mongoloids who say "oh this wonderful collision avoidance technology with these 45 excellent radar antennae scattered across the front of my car mean I can tailgate like a methed up tradie at full speed with no fear because the car and the 35 airbags will protect me if it all goes wrong" ...... </shallistopranting?>
    • There's a post from a member (can't recall who), went down the path of a twin scroll G30-660 and it's doing over 300kW+ AND comes on about the same as a high flow RB25DET turbo. Have your cake and eat it too in this case. TBH, if I had a 2nd chance of building my car again (i.e. someone gave me what I wanted for my shit box, but the deal was I had to re-build another R33 and keep the change) I would just pop in a stock NEO motor (with new seals, rod bearings, ARP studs, head gasket, sump, Nitto pump), get a smaller twin scroll turbo, modify the stock low mount (keep the divider in place), and make a solid 300kW on 98RON and call it a day.
    • It's all the sound deadening, and extra shit piled into them, plus all the extra (even though it's thinner) material for crumple zones. I can't fathom in modern cars why they need canbus to the headlights, and why the headlights must be vin coded on some cars to the ECU, BCM, and security module! Especially when they claim it's for security, yet, the canbus at the headlights let's thieves steal the car in minutes, so even more cars are being stolen! The Mercedes Sprinter 907 vans. They're a huge van, but a "basic" van. Yet they have that many canbus networks, plus two Lin networks, AND an Ethernet network. Logging a single network alone of 8 byte data frames, and they will generate a 20mb log file in 5 minutes. That's one network, and I can't remember the exact amount, but there's over 10 full CAN2.0B networks in them. I'm not a fan of modern cars, oddly, more and more I hate DBW, and all the bullshittery the cars try and interfere with. But all that bullshittery adds weight, plus crazy regulations on crumple zones, plus, ever picked a modern seat up, half of them have like 4 electric motors in them and will weigh 30+kg each. Then all the motors for things like adjustable steering columns blah blah blah. And did I mention the sound deadening so you can even hear an ambulance right behind you even if you 7.2surround sound is off?
    • Ah ok, yeah it should be flat, I believe the r34 battery tray has these 3 bumps in them they makes it line up and everything is flat, don't see how it would tilt if everything is secured.
    • Agreed it actively wants to kill you which I love driving fast cars slow is my stick
