Ants, I know what you're saying bruv. My point was more that old mate said he can't wait until his metabolism slows down so he can gain weight...but it will be he wrong kind of weight. He can put on muscle instead and look a hundred times better and not be a 50kg rake.

Similarly to Dan, when I left school I was 62kg at 188cm, which is probably about as skinny as ZRBE is at his height. Now at 80kg, no one calls me skinny anymore and I didn't put on any fat to get there :)

ZRBE, compound movements are exercises that work more than one muscle/joint at the same time. The big three powerlifting movements, squats/deadlifts/bench are compounds. As are rows and pull-ups etc. But those big three will put on more muscle mass and build strength quicker than any other exercise particularly for a beginner. Do those properly and you will have no problem gaining weight or eating more.

say what?!

Sweet as. Cheers for that man. :)

Well after a game of oztag tonight where I wasn't even good for a half I have decided I need to do more to look after my cardiovascular fitness.

Any cardio work in the gym before or after weight training will not happen. Not even worth mentioning.

My options are:

1. Crossfit

2. MMA at a decent gym

3. Cardio in the morning before work

Option 1 & 2 would basically mean no more actual gym work due to time constraints. 3 means getting up earlier and not being lazy. But I have no idea what type of cardio to do, jogging does not appeal to me nor does bike riding, I would have to do HIIT training but dont know where to start.

Thoughts and opinions?

None.

Weights you can do for 3x8 or 3x10.

Done explosively.

60 secs between sets.

Focus on compound movements.

Plenty of cardio.

If you're not puffed the weight is too light or you're not moving fast enough.

Alternatively, do two exercises at one time and switch back and forth set for set. 60secs rest after 1 set of each movement.

Or various alternatives of the above.

MMA would be a step above compound weights I'd say. Sparring is full body recruitment, huge tax on the respiratory systems.

I didn't do MMA but I did do some freestyle martial arts back in the day, nowhere near as hard a work as grappling though, and I agree it's a different type of fitness.

yea the MMA was hard, especially when I was fighting.

I am thinking about just running in the morning, least i can get the dog out with me. Pitty the baseball field locks all of its gates, cant get in and just let her off the lead and me do some sprints

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. Scan of a magazine with the black R33 from 1996: Wayback machine archived page from May, 2000: https://web.archive.org/web/20000529061027/http://www.emotion-r.co.jp/skyline.html Option magazine with a few photos from the Cockpit Tatebayashi booth at the Auto Salon from various years: 2002: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=154&image_id=3507 2003: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=137&image_id=3033 2005: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=116&image_id=1831 In 2008 Cusco website mentions that the Cockpit Tatebayashi ECR33 was displayed at that year's Tokyo Auto Salon: https://www.cusco.co.jp/event/2008/12/post_735.html As of 2021 it appears that the ECR33 demo car ended up being exported to Florida, USA: https://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-nissan-skyline-r33-cockpit-tatebayashi-demo-car-big-te06-turbo-endless-brakes-lsd-450hp/ Apologies for nerding out a bit. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
    • Try fabricating something like this and install it under the pedals? Not sure if it's legal or not....
    • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
    • Also, there's always room for 4 or 5 3/8" drive wobble extensions of various lengths so you can operate the ratchet from a better location.
