Jesus! I log out for a while and all hell breaks loose!

I don't suppose anybody got footage of my passes the other night? In particular the one against the Torrie?

they are 26 x 10.5 ET Drags

I've just ordered a pair of the ET Streets in the same size. What are the consequences of NOT running front runners with these tyres if you're going 116mph across the line?

Adrian

If they're the same as slicks (ie. very soft sidewalls), the back end tends to sway on the tyres... To anyone not aware, it would feel like the back is stepping out. With normal rubber on the front, it accentuates that problem because the front is tracking straight. Obviously your first thought is to provide some oppy lock to straighten it out - and that's where it gets dangerous!

Sticking skinnies on the front means the front of the car moves around with the back.

I'm guessing here - but I would think if you got a larger sized tyre (ie. 16 or 17"), the "sway" would be no-where near as bad as there isn't as much sidewall.

Cheers,

matt

I was toying with the idea of borrowing Ben's (well known 10sec Yellow Supra owner) ET Streets for the next AIR Wednesday 4, 6 and Rotary meet. I'm not so sure now you've highlighted the "sway" issue Matt! Especially after nearly being cleaned up by a car suffering from this exact issue!

Thanks for that. By skinnies do you mean just skinny tyres or proper front runners?

I farking hate them to look at but i suppose if it's neccessary... Do they take some getting used to or not?

Adrian

I reckon about 6-8 weeks for the race GTR. We are waiting on brackets for the dry sump pump from queensland, & a timing belt from Japan. Once we get them we can engine dyno the engine(which is ready to go), then finish off the undertrays, mount the radiator in the boot, & it should be ready. One of the reasons it has taken so long is I was pouring $ into the street car instead of the race car, but now that is bust again we are full steam on the race car.

I am in Perth at the moment.Went to the comp meet on Sat. Saw jet cars running 5.0s, a rail running 5.0, a swag of doorslammers in the 6s, & a torana roll at the deep end.It went spinning on its roof with sparks flying everywhere thru the traps. Was a chick driving too.

I am racing the ute at the Wed night street drags tonight, then will be racing at Drag combat on Sat. Should be fun.If I cant race my GTR then I will race my tow car.At least I still get to do burnouts.

John,

Did the above occur at AIR on Sat? Or are you refering to another Torrie roll over with a female driver that happened in Perth??? If it's the latter then that is bloody freakish! If it's the former then go have a FULL read of this thread mate :):D

Hahaha.... ahhhh Erica you just cracked me up big time :D

It's a long story Steve.... but suffice to say I added together the only Swahili words I knew and ended up calling Erica a "bad donkey" :D Which is actually quite a compliment when you think about it, donkey ='s ass, hence "bad ass"

    • It only looks tidy, as most of the stuff that was on the whole back wall, is now in the trailer to go to the tip, or has been shoved in my 2.2x2.4m "Spare parts room", and now I can't get to anything in there Ha ha ha I could definitely do with a bit more space, but I'd just end up with your problems I'm going to enclose the car port beside the garage, and move a lot of stuff into it I think. OR... It will be setup as a fabrication area, and the main garage will have parts storage in it. I'm not sure yet... Need some pictures of that big shed you've got with the bikes and Skyline in
    • No. I think it's gone. 😭 I think you can get body coloured ones on eBay so I think I'll get one of those... Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it.
    • Can't say I've had a bad experience with one on my car, then again it only gets washed once or twice a year... The wheels on the other hand, get a good spray often due to my shitty dusty pads.
    • @MBS206 thats pretty neat and tidy to me!  I'll get a photo of mine when I'm out there next. It might require multiple photos to understand the scale of the atrocities though... In total I have 4 sheds of varying sizes and layouts. Main shed is 14x8, second shed is 3x8, third shed is 11x2.5, fourth shed is around 6x4.  All are pretty much full.   The main goal of my cleaning tsunami is to make the main shed predominantly car and motorbikes only. Second shed is my metal fab room (2 x bench grinders, drill press, bench belt sander, metal band saw, scrap metal storage and some of my garden tools.  3rd shed is more bigger garden stuff, storage for engine crane, jack stands, concrete grinder, concrete mixer, air compressor lives there, and it now has two 2mx2m pallet racking shelves with itemised boxes holding building stuff, electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, etc, etc.  The 4th shed is Ryobi electric ride on mower, mini boom sprayer, ancient Kubota tractor, more garden stuff!  I have got a lot of shit....  Then there's the pool house (8mx4m) and the pool pump shed (4mx4m).  I built all of the sheds over the 11 years we've been here.  The main shed was a Ranbuild kit, the rest are all custom made to fit the areas available. Building the main shed taught me a LOT as I had no idea about building anything prior to that!  I've still got one more in me. It will be my man cave which I poured the extra concrete for way back when I poured the concrete for the main shed. The idea is the Skyline will be a centre piece of the main cave once (if...) it's finished.  I told my now 14 year old son yesterday that I will 100% drive him to his year 10 formal in 2 years. Still a long way off but at least I now have a date to work towards! 🤣
    • Modern oils are amazing. Add tyres to that as well.
