Hey guys,

As the title states im chasing opinions from people who have/had HKS Hypermax coilovers in there GTR/GTS4, I have a 4door GTS4 and have found a set of barely used HKS Hypermax coilovers for a good price but just don't no to much about them. Any help would be awesome,

If they are off a GTR there not going to fit, Your going to need a mixed set of GTR fronts and GTST rears.

you sure about that? I'm pretty sure fronts are identical between gtr & gtst & its the rears that are different...

Anyway for the op, I've got a z32 which use's identical suspension to the r32 gtr (& gts4 I believe) & I've had 2 sets of HKS's. The first were the Hiper-D's (as on label on coilover) these are the original hypermax's with progressive rate springs, 10/8, & I found them too harsh to daily round melbourne. Then moved to hypermax 2's (damper on label, mine are a gtr set) which run 7/6 springs, found these to be an excellent compromise. Compliant enough when your just cruising round the streets but offer great handling once your in the twisties.

They will "fit" but they won't "work". The front shocks are much shorter on the 4wd's due to the higher placement of the lower mount which is required to clear the front drive shafts. The front spring rate, and the damper rates, are too high for a 2wd due to the extra weight (~12%) that a 4wd carries over the front wheels.

BTW, you can't use a GTR kit either as their rear shocks have forks for the bottom mounts, not eyes like GTST's and GTS4's.

Your getting confused mate, r32 gtr/gts4 & z32 all use the same shocks. Eye's at the front, forks at the rear & the same lengths between all models. Gtst uses eyes all round & may well be different lengths to the other types (I thought all fronts were the same though), doesn't matter though as op wants/needs a set for gtr/gts4/z32. He's trying to put gtr coilovers on a gts4, both are 4wd.

Thanks mate, The question i asked is were HKS are any good, not weather they were gunna fit. Sorry to offend but i already new they were gunna fit SYDKING confused the shit otta me lol

yeah I know, and to answer your question (as above) they are ok. not great but certainly not the worst options out there. but what you need to do is find out what spring rates come with the ones you are looking at and then decide if they are suitable for what you want to do with the car. like I said if these are cheap and in good condition then by all means use them, but if you actually want to find something good for your car start looking out for some bilsteins, Tein RA/RS, ohlins flag R, nismo R-tune etc. just depends on your budget and again what you want from the car.

if you just want some good basic road suspension with some height adjustment then look at a set of the circlip adjustable bilsteins. they are pretty decent for the money. can be converted to fully height adjustable with 'coil-over kits' later if you want.

32's must be only ones interchangeable, 33 are not, my source of info is from Sydney kid, so I think its reliable enough. I did a search in the topic and It's been covered before, and I dont see a problem with saying something wrong as the next person to read this will learn something new as infomation has been corrected, cheers
