Police Seize Hoon Car With Just 55Km On Odometer

Recommended Posts

Some drivers are just too childish to do all this to put other Skyline owners in the eyes of cops.

100% thats not new car...its gtr33 and gtr34.....

I miss my GTR33 after seling it :,( ....

i was told it was 2 guys trying to catch up with the group of a cruise after a meet. One was an R35 (assumedly one with the 55km odo) and the other car was an R34 V spec II.

were caught 45km over the 70k limit.

was told by a guy that was at the meet but not at the cruise when this happened so this is just hearsay again but.

After almost a year, this case was finally heard by the Magistrates Court earlier this week.

To clear up any confusion, according to the police statement a maximum speed of 80km/h was reached by both vehicles prior to being pulled over. Excessive speed was NOT a factor.

After being offered and declining a plea bargain to downgrade charges from reckless driving to excessive noise, the case went before a magistrate and was promptly dismissed due to lack of evidence - the 2 officers didn't even bother showing up!

So after 5 trips to the Magistrates Court, both the co-accused and myself can put this behind us!

Also worth noting, the lawyer who's services I used was top notch - would definitely recommend him. PM me for details.

TL;DR: Cops offered plea bargains. Co-accused and myself declined. Went to trial. Cops didn't show

Well done!

I can understand the cops not showing up bit. Happens all the time with someof our impounded repos at work

I've had the same shit happen to myself before by Police putting charges up without proof.

The system farken stinks.

Police should be made to them foot a % of the costs out of their pay. It would make them think twice before making up fanciful claims and wasting public time/money

Agree 100%. Between the co-accused and myself, we claimed around $11,000 in lawyer costs/impound fee refund. That is $11,000 that could have gone to many worthy causes!

Well mine only cost me $800 as it was a mate and the case was so open/shut type of wrong that it didn't even make it to the court room. Prosecution dropped charges the 'morning of' once they actually sat down and read what the Officer was attempting to get through.

It's the abuse of the system where-by charges like that can be brought about without any real review. If the prosecution clearly saw it as a farce, how it made it past the officers' superiors/review is utterly beyond me and just shows how broken it is that such stuff can occur like that.

Good on you for sticking up for yourself even in the face of excessive costs. If only more people did it and showed the Police they are not a law unto themselves on these types of things

The fact that the prosecutor made it very clear he didn't want the case to go trial says it all really...

    • "Here's how it works: Buy a set of four Pirelli tyres." Hey I think these guys are on to something 🤣
    • Absolutely! I've been in love with them since I was a kid. I remember doing a school essay on Humvee's back in grade 5 haha. I always wanted one, but didn't have the space nor the funds. With us now looking for another larger home with a larger garage, I'll have room to park it. They have also gone down considerably in price. The US army has been phasing out Humvee's, so they're flooding the market which also brings down H1 prices.  It shouldn't be a problem to drive around here, I live in the suburbs. I would absolutely not buy one if I lived in a city though. They are known to be terribly unreliable. People often swap out the original 6.2/6.5L for a more reliable Duramax.  H1 and Humvee's are identical, minus the fact that the H1 has a dash and seats. It sadly also makes the H1 more expensive. I've driven both and the Humvee interior, or lack thereof makes it extremely loud and unpleasant to drive. Don't get me wrong, the H1's interior is horrendous, but at least it's present. Most do a custom interior in a Humvee which I'm also more than happy to purchase.
    • Then I realised it was just a typo. I was hoping for a set of Pirellys for my 5 series.
