about to order one of these here turbos, sorry Stao should be able to make the transfer tomorrow night when i have some dosh.

anway Toshi up here in Sydney is going to do the tune once i get this Z32 AFM with a cable that i need,

seems like a fair price. With the turbo going for 1450 or so, the tune 650 and the injectors 600 or so the whole thing shouldnt set me back more than 3k including the install. not bad considering i should be making close to 300kw.

Make sure your budget allows for metal intake pipe and modify a little bit of the cooler pipe.

Another tip is to buy some locking nuts for the turbo as u cant fit the standard locking tabs.

I'd budget an extra $400-$500 or so. You may not need it, but I did. It's not a nice surprise when your tuner calls you up saying the turbo isn't going to fit, we need to do some custom piping. It's a better surprise to have $400-$500 left over from what you budgeted. My 2c anyway.

Also, if your tuner is anything like mine... Don't do an oil change before you give them the car. I went and put my nice expensive oils through the engine and an oil filter, turns out it's tuner policy to do that whenever they do a turbo change. So $150's worth of oil and filter down the drain :(

As for metal piping and so on, Stao said it comes with all the necessary bits but i will keep a few hundred aside in case some extra work is required. not settled on the mechanic yet, there is one in Marrickville that comes recommended on here.

forget the name but might head out to F&E in Wetherill park just because i know them and it will be good value.

It does... Just not all of them :P It won't come with piping, you can't do that until the turbo is on. You'll need some modifications to the plumbing for sure.

I have made a few custom intakes Ron, cant help much from down here though.

I fitted a Hypergear turbo the other day, I seem to remember it needing a new drain pipe, intake, heat shield, and I had to clock the CHRA around 15 degrees so the oil drain was vertical before the water lines would line up. Make sure you put something over the drain so nothing falls down into the oil while you work, its common for coolant to drip in from the turbo as you remove it. The oil line seems a bit long too, could do with 2 inches or more being removed if it wasn't crimped.

The intake pipe from performance wise is too small, its a 2.5" to 3". I made my own one, I'm going to make a new one. Its measured up just need to cut and get it welded. Its gonna have straight cut bends(none of that fancy lobster welding) but all bends will be 3" minimum.

Scotty, if you ever have to build a intake pipe for an SS2 turbo, I might be keen on one if its for an R33. Almost certain the pipe will be the same across the board, so if you can somehow blueprint your design, you can help other people in other states! I run rubber oil breather and BOV return lines so I am flexible with the location of these ports.

I will be building this new pipe and hoping for the best that it removes the barrier on my car. MAYBE, just MAYBE it was a low dyno read out but the fact that another chap with an SS1 I think(not sure which turbo he had) made 259rwkw on the same day on the same dyno. I should make more. I don't feel like I am losing boost at all, anywhere so that isn't the issue. It must be my intake restricting air flow...

Stao you should offer a complete fitting kit, inlcuding intake pipe and joiners from the turbo outlet to ic piping.

Ive seen questions regarding this all through this thread.

It's more income for you and convenience for your customers.

Just a thought i think i paid $500 all up for this to be done on mine would have gladly given this money to you.

I can do the measuring and cutting but ill get someone else to do the welding. Also depends on the filter and if you are plumbing shit back.

+1 to stao doing the piping too, would be happy to send a little more cash this way to smooth over the whole operation.

as for those specs you need sarge....:unsure: not sure how to start figuring out what they would be. hopefully once the turbo comes in and i take it to the mechanics he can let me know what you need to....er...know.

Just get them to knock up an intake pipe and make any necessary modifications to the cooler piping while they are in there man. It's way easier that way, you don't have to worry about things not fitting or having to remove everything more than once. It's not a serious exercise.

Arent u guys getting the metal intake piping from performance wise?? I think they have one for around 100 bucks cant remember.. How is everyone making this piping? Custom job, and from where??

Thumbs down to the performance wise intake pipe, my pod wouldnt even sit in the engine bay using it with an R34 GTT?? The fittings for the bov return and other pcv breather are in the wrong locations. There is no way it will ever fit up to an airbox.

I made my own using a 90 degree bend and a pod. I know 1 person that has a good 3" metal intake going to the standard airbox but its not an easy job as you have to get it in the perfect spot on the perfect angle.

Fkn intake pipes lol.... looks like everyones got their own custom pipes, dont see why as the engine's are the same, turbos are the same (hypergear ones), IC pipings the same etc....can someone make a cool 'standard' intake pipe that everyone can use across the board..

Which is f**king insane hard, especially with the AFM in the way. It f**ks EVERYTHING up lol.

Yup thats why when everyone says why dont you run a standard airbox I say its too hard! I would love to try it back to back with the pod to see if any power is lost. If not much I would use the airbox as the pod cant make quite a bit of noise especially when you have a very responsive turbo that spools very frequently.
