Hi there,

I have scored a 89 model GTR from japan, I was hoping someone could tell me exactly what I have to do to get ACT rego on it?

I've been told different things like just front up at dickson and they will tell you, or pay a workshop 1800, or just change belts, RHS mirror, HL brake light and add side intrusions.

Which is the best way to go about it?

Thanks

Lucky bugger,

try the DOTARS site www.dotars.gov.au there may be some info there as they are the authority on importing cars

Dust, I haven't got mine there yet, but I spoke to the Head guy at Dickson. He said as long as it passed the usual roadworthy and had Child restraints in the rear, it was fine (providing you have all your paperwork) You will also have ot stamp your import approval (issued to you by DOTARS) on the body under the bonnet.

He said you do not need an engineer cert. I am also fitting a HL brake light.

will let you know :)

Dan I still argue that cert point.. they definatly asked for mine when I went through in fact the main reason I got nocked back was because the engine number was not listed on the cert... so I would say you will find that you do require one.. but then if you get through with out one then there's $450 you that have more than me.. HOw ever the side intursion bars is interesting as the only way to prove it really is with the Engineers Cert, so if you dont need an engineer cert you wont need the intrusion bars... interesting so you would have more than $1k more than me.. interesting..

I tend to agree with Stirlo, I spoke to tech standards in dickson and they said I will have to have an engineers certificate.

One could assume that it depends what day of the week you turn up for inspection as to whether you need a cert. or not...... I'm going to get one anyway.
