yes, I can't see any issues with a straight Bose-Bose swap. Just make sure you get one from the same series as the face plate needs to be swapped too. If you have navi,, it would be easier if you get a HU from a G35 with navi. If you have a FM band expander installed for the radio, you will need to remove that too when fitting a G35 HU

Cool thx ...don't have navi and i can live without a DVD. Perfect option :) just hope I don't end up buying a dud

Does that mean you don't need an expander with a US unit?

I noticed with my unit that the output boosts when I adjust the bass and treble.. or up the volume to 20 and turn it back down ... weird pinch.gif

Great info! So I'm guessing that V35 Bose to G35 Bose would just be a straight swap?

yes BUT the reverse is not that easy.. if you have navi then it is not. they are different.

sonic,

is it a PDF?

Chris - Yes, it is a PDF

Poke - that is correct, you must remove the band expander when fitting the US unit, they use the same radio frequency range as we do. If you leave it installed, you won't be able to receive most of the radio stations.

The G35 units also have speed sensitive volume, but that doesn't seem to work on mine, I am guessing the V35 doesn't have the speed signal wire connected from the speedo cluster to the HU, if I have enough time on my hands, I might see if I can connect it. (any advise Chris?)

firmware is different on the JDM one and there is no wire there for it for the USDM one to work. there is a speed wire in the car that I use for cruise but I'm not sure if it is stable enough to run that.

yeah, I thought that might be the case. I was going to check the pin on the back of the Speedo cluster too see if there is a speed output that complies with what the g35 FSM shows. If it does, I will try adding the wire for the HU.

If you can't find a speed signal wire there, I think the one Chris is talking about is on pin 27 of the TCM (Transmission Control Module) which is behind the passenger side kick panel. It's a yellow black wire. At 20km/h it frequency is 185Hz (according toG35 manual). Is that in the range you require?

According to the G35 FSM, the speed signal for the stereo should be approx 55hz at 40km/h

Mmmm, that may not work then. Hunting around in the back of the dash could be your only hope, but it's hadly life or death though hey  .
