Geez... what is it with creepy old men and my sexy body?

Creepy gentlemen aside it was a good night with some solid info. I even learnt some stuff.

Thanks to team at wholesale suspension for putting the night on.

Disappointed that we didn't get Duncan's car on the hoist to play spot the oil leak. Just guessing that everyone would win a prize.

Thanks SAU NSW and the staff from Wholesale Suspension for a fun informative night.

Dear son of rajab......fml still at work, hopefully can smash this last job and get over there....steering box in a 100 series and wheel alignment:( unlikely.

May have to rock up halfa late

Even though it states that "The Legends Night" bookings are sold out Zach, you're tentaively included so long as you fix up SAU with payment real quick.

Tis great you came > good chat!

Awesome! Is that just me or me+ the wife? Just need to know as I'll process payment tonight! Much appreciated!

Agreed with all, was a good night and the Wholesale Suspension boys (and girl) were great to deal with and taught us some very useful information.

Duncan, Neil and myself had a stalker @ Penrith McD's beforehand - he parked right next to us and must have been waiting for us to come back to the cars then pounced on us with chat about his three Datto 200Bs. I guess that's what two damned fine Stageas parked side-by-side attracts in that neck of the woods, hey?

His car was pretty cool though.

lol what use is a clone unless they are under your direct control, and can do all the boring stuff you don't want to do each day.

Pat won't cut it for me, I'm going to keep working on the mechanical clone in the back of my garage.....all I need is a lightning storm to power it up muahahahahahhahahahahahaha

I kept trying to think why Pat looked so familiar! Pat = Duncan Doppleganger!

Somebody have their email? I want to thank them for such a great night.

Loads of good info:

* No "recipe" to great suspension setup

* Good suspension is about balance - to the car setup, tyre setup and duty (e.g. street, track, skidpan, strip, drift, etc)

* More <> Better - often spring rates are too stiff in straight aftermarket packages

* Balance is the key to quick - NOT flatter. Lots of guys set up for a "Flat" car not realising that weight transfer (e.g. some roll) is important to getting more grip

* It was amazing to see how 8mm-10mm of squat caused toe and camber to really move. You can really imaging then how much toe in/out changes dynamically as you go around a track.

* Interesting the effects of good aero on the suspension set-up. Those time attack cars and F1 can run less camber but still maintain even tyre contact because the aero is adding additional down force "weight" increasing grip.

Upgrades:

* Best first upgrade is a poly bush (hehe I said bush) - on 10 yr old cars stock rubber ones will just be worn out. Unless a full track car, you want a poly instead of aluminium to soak a little vibration and not transfer too much of that into the chassis from normal crappy nsw roads

* Coil overs (dampening), spring rates and tyres need to be balanced in order to work well, e.g. Stiff sidewall tyres can take stiffer springs and harder dampening, if you are just going to run road tyres then you should use looser suspension & springs otherwise your tyres are taking too much of the shock/dampening work that adversly affects their work on traction

* Sway bars are just used to control body roll to affect and maximise weight transfer (note that I didn't say body roll - it's about weight transfer/Grip relationship)

Great practical advice and enough theory explaination to help us out in finding a good balanced upgrade approach.

You can confirm that their employee Matt might wish to buy 2x tix to Legends Night + any others? > Followup...

My business brain on the night asked if they'd like to make up some DL cards for SAU "Partners" to stick in their caryards and workshops? > Followup...

    • OK, that is a helpful description, because that sounds exactly like a bleeding issue in the clutch....these are hard to bleed manually even when the damping loop has been removed. I'd suggest bleeding again....start by filling the master cylinder up and opening the bleed nipple. Come back and check every now and then that the master cylinder is not empty. Let it gravity bleed for a few hours and see if that improves
    • I replaced the whole clutch line with the chase bays braided hose, I think it removes that loop, is it the short hose that comes immediately off the slave or is there a drawing in the manual to find what you’re referring to? It was just re-bled when I upgraded to the nismo slave, old slave worked fine but I thought that might help, didn’t change a thing. It’s like the first half of the pedal is pushing air and then when it finally actuates the master the friction zone is tiny. Makes it practically impossible to launch the car
    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
