So I got a bonnet strut kit to trial on my R33, but because of the acute angle the struts are so damn hard that it's seemingly impossible to get them on the mounts. The kit is for a 180sx so it's not made for a skyline, but it fits alright apart from the slightly to long and very hard struts lol

Just after some ideas on how to hold them compressed while putting them on the car. Thought maybe someone might have an idea. Otherwise I will find shorter struts or get a bit of gas taken out of these ones maybe

Thanks

Interested in how they actually operate, as we looked at modifying the Tein's for the GTR to suit GTS however there was no room in the Fenders for them to sit when the bonnet was down.

I have seen some struts use a metal/packaging band around them to reduce their size for shipping, this could be done to achieve the effect you want, however you just need to make sure the band is offset to allow the ball into the circlip recess.

Yeah the kit I have fits ok but makes the bonnet sit up at the back. May modify them but there not so bad.

May try some stronger wire to hold them together while they go on. Will post up photos when I sort it out.

Dads tried some strapping tape (the plastic stuff) from his work but the ends on the struts are rounded so they were just slipping off. Have tried wrapping wire around each end and hooking them in the middle but the wire we used wasn't strong enough
