ok guys,

ive had my 34 gt for about 8 months and ever since i got it ive been getting 370 km out of a full tank (at best) .

i dont have a heavy left foot and i checked the afm and the o2 sensor, both seem to be outputting as normal.

i tryed to run it on 98 prem but it just seemed to get less out of the same amount of fuel (320 - 350).

the only aftermarket addons that i know of is the exhaust ( has a silencer i belive ) - could this be the cause.

any other ideas would be of great help.

as i ask in pretty much every thread about fuel economy, HOW MANY LITRES ARE YOU PUTTING IN?

sorry but i'm sick of every person who starts a thread using "a tank" as their quantity. everyone fills their tank at different levels, and all fuel gauges read differently, so you may be getting better economy than someone who posts up saying that they can go 100kms further because you fill up with more fuel left in the tank.

put your fuel economy into a litres/100kms format and then you can see what sort of economy you are getting. anywhere between 10L/100kms and 15L/100kms is accepted as normal without knowing your specific driving style, conditions, etc.

My fairly stock R34 (just a turbo-back and pod) gets 10.14km's/L on the highway (sampled when driving from Sydney to Brisbane, in a loaded car. Probably equivalent to having 2 passengers). But around the city when I first got the thing, I was lucky to get 350-400 from a tank (55L). That's cause I was tack-tacking everywhere though. :)

  • 1 month later...

mad082

i fill it to the top ( pump wont let me put any more in)

im not sure but the standard size of the tank is about 60 in a non turbo ( if it had a turbo i wouldn be worried)

*facepalm* god i hate stupid people....

saying that you "fill to the top" is totally pointless if you don't take any notice as to how many litres you are actually putting in. yes the tank holds 65L like a turbo one does, but if you are only putting in 40L when the gauge says you are out of fuel. if were to simply compare the kms you are getting before the gauge says the tank is empty and compare it to someone else then of course your economy will seem ordinary because their gauge may be more accurate than yours, however your actual economy when calculated accurately may be better than theirs.

long story short, next time you fill up take note of how many kms you did and how many litres you put in. from this you can calculate an accurate fuel economy figure to go off. the formula to use is Litres of fuel divided by kms travelled divided by 100. so if you do 370kms, and put in 40L of fuel then you would do 40/370/100 = 10.8L/100kms.

I seen it thought he was a yank for a min I agree with jez o2 sensor also work out how liters per 100 your getting. Your gauge might be on your left foot

Doesn't matter what side the wheel is on the go pedal is on the right
