Been pretty lazy with this.

Car is currently on Jack stands getting the brakes powder coated and rebuild.

While I can't drive it I've gone on a bit of a restoration spree.

Had to sort out some braid rubbing on my intercooler. Not happy with how it was installed so ripped the whole front end apart to fix the lines.

I have this waiting to go on my car to finally complete the exhaust to go 3"-3.5".

Also my mines exhaust was getting a bit tired so it got replaced with a HKS Super turbo. Really nice sounding exhaust but nowhere near as nice as my mines was. It shoots bigger flames though.

Lastly anyone know of a side skirt fs in mnp in good condition? I hit a bit of timber on the freeway a while ago and it literally took a chunk out of it! :(

Much better condition steering wheel. Put the standard gauges back in, but still keeping water temp and AFR.

Deep cleaned the interior

Painted windshield wiper arms, they were getting tired. Also put the new design wiper on the car. Hope that stops it hopping around.

Oh and whoever said you can't get a screw driver through a oil filter on a RB26 is joking himself. I had to resort to that because a certain mechanic has the grip strength of 20 Thors and then calls me weak.

Look what I picked up today

Looks like I have a weekend of brake fluid ahead :S, I dont like brake fluid, why do they make so toxic and virtually a paint stripper?!

Cheeky little test fit. I know, I know, boring colour. But I like the stealth look.

On the street the brakes do not fade. It is street driving after all.

At wakefield the brakes did great. I was running Nulon super dot 4 and QFM A1RM pads on the front at the time. I could do about 5/6 hot laps before the brakes got a bit spungy. Both times I went it was 30+ on the day which sucked. Got a 1.08 at wakey.

By this time I must have proper cooked the brakes because they were all squeely and shit driving back to gosford, so I pulled them out and slapped in a set of Intima pads. I think they were the SR pads. Now for me personally they were shit, I had brake fade within 2 laps of the first session at eastern creek south circuit and they didnt have the same stopping power as the QFM's and I destroyed the pads at one outing on the track. Even though I was not impressed with the brakes I still pulled a 1.04 at SMSP south circuit for my first time there.

The real guru to speak to standard brakes vs bbk is fatz. Look at his thread he will tell you what is what.

Pleasure.

So brakes are on. New brake pads are in but not without some elbow grease.

The front brakes didn't fit width wise in the caliper. So out comes the file and file 1mm off each brake pad. Thanks powder coating and your thicknessness.

Rears had no problem. Fit like a glove.

That's it for tonight. Tomorrow is brake fluid day. Yay my favourite.

    • ..could be worse... but out here, renting private affords some luxuries ...we've even been told the Sept dateline isn't critical, and I'd rather move stuff in the cool of winter, than slogging it out in the heat. Recall we were talking about the million dollar view this place has?...that's what he got for it... (won't be so nice when the quarry happens at the back in the future...lol..)... ...cool, I'll stick the wiper motor in a wee box...umm.... the pinny is GLX trim ~ I think that's about as close as it gets to Silo spec when it comes to the S2 pinny...ie; electric mirrors etc etc...dunno about the trip computer/wiring...I do electronics repair, I'd be willing to take a look at it for you. As you saw, all the dash is there in that car..and thinking about it, it'd be easier to pull the whole center section out, rather than just the ashtray and rails, but your call...
    • The "sacrifice of low end" is now basically irrelevant in 2025. Turbo/ecu/fabrication/and other tech advancements gives a vast array of options to mitigated any of it. My setup now is a fantastic example of this. 300whp / 20psi @ 3500rpm from a 600hp turbo setup on a notoriety low reading Dyno Dynamics roller dyno, is almost unmatched on all of SAU and other forums. The only other turbo i've seen that can achieve this is a BW EFR + twin scroll / twin gates etc etc etc... ps. tuned by Matty Spry at P.I.T.S as far as getting to the 600 figure, while enlarging your itb's alone probably won't get you there, as Sucram has stated above, it will certainly help. Just do it Predator1 my brother hahaha 🙂
    • I use Taaarks/efi solutions ones. Years, and no issues.
    • At the Botany heavy vehicle inspection centre. At the time there were only 2 locations that did IM240 testing for free, the other location was at Penrith. I did a quick google, seems like the Botany and Penrith inspection centre is closed now though About an hour of my time.  At the time you could. They are closed now   No it was Government run, the site was attached to the RTA from memory. The guys running it at the time were awesome, if you didn't pass the test, they handed you the results and said make changes to your car/tune and have another go later. You drove in registered, failed, and drove out registered.   Obviously though if you were defected, sent there, failed. You remained unregistered.  From my 5 minutes of research (have a look at the date on my test results) looks like things have changed. So, I can't see any way to get this test done for free now Seems like you'll need to call around the engineering places doing the Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme or call around workshops with a dyno and try and get a RG240 test. No idea how expensive that is though or how easy it is to find a place offering it.  Bit depressing learning about this now. The first car I had engineered in NSW cost me about $250 all up.... So kids these days can't buy houses, looks like getting your car legal and engineered in NSW is another thing on the list of things they can't afford. Great.
