with weather cooling decided to head out to heathcote to run the car in cooler ambient temp - wasn't that much cooler unfortunately, it's just far too hot out there, will have to wait for winter before the temps cool down

did 3 consecutive 10.8s at varying launch rpms

quickest was a 10.81 @ 134.73 mph with track temp at 30degrees. 60ft 1.79 using lc5 with a custom 4100rpm launch control in full auto mode.

was still a touch laggy off the line, even with 21" street tyres. Ran out of time and track temp was steadily increasing so didn't get a chance to try my 4500rpm launch map. that 10.7 is definitely within reach if the ambient temp comes down

video.... wheelspin through 1st so short shifted. this run was good for a 10.83

next time ill be putting my stock wheels/tyres on the rear and shooting for a better 60ft

looking at my datalogs, vdc-r is kicking in through 1st and 2nd and limiting boost to 15-16psi through most of the midrange. im only seeing 17+psi into 3rd

What tyres were u using? Aren't u on 21inch ADV wheels?

21in should give you better traction than a 20in, isn't it?

wheels are 21x10 and 21x11.5 with 255/35f and 295/30r

tyres are Yokohama Advan V103. they are regular high performance street tyres and not r-compound tyres like the oem Bridgestones or Dunlops, so there is a definite lack of grip compared to oem

for eg; on the street it'll spin all 4 wheels in 2nd and 3rd and using lc is pointless - on my oem tyres i get no slip from a roll on

there is nothing wrong with 21" wheels imo, the ride comfort on non-runflat tyres is leaps and bounds better than oem, especially on coarse highway bitumen. the only limiting factor is tyre choice. atm no one offers r-compound tyres in 21"

i run the exact same tyres on my evo x in a square 255/35 19x9.5 setup and they offer no wheelspin launching at 5k rpm. the power of the GTR is just too much for them, but i persist because they are one of the most comfortable high performance tyre on the market

I see. It's a pity Michelin PSS don't have too many sizes in the 21in. That would have solved your problems.

In the 20in, you could wear the MPSS in 285f and 335r, which should give massive traction in the rears.

the pss aren't available in the sizes i want, only the ps2. i've still got plenty of tread left on these yokohamas so ill just wait it out and see what becomes available in the future.

yeh i could even put some toyo r888s on my stock wheels and use them for drag, but i don't want to spend any money on drag racing, not when i'm still on the fence about swapping out the turbos

this is what i prefer to do with my gtr....

decided to take next step with my R35 build

drove back up to Willall Racing and installed their WR600 ball bearing turbos, ported + polished the intake manifold and ended up at 475awkw @ a nice safe 18psi on E85 - 425awkw on 98

ended up swapping out my 2.75" intakes for 3" with green filters, and swapped dw950s for asnu 1150cc injectors

Willall modified my bell housing to get rid of the trademark R35 rattle and it's one of the best things i've done to the car

noticeable difference compared to stock turbos, WR600 turbos come on harder and make 18psi right to redline - the difference on the street is far more noticeable than the dyno numbers of +50kw would suggest given power just keeps building right to redline. roll on in 2nd or 3rd is rediculous

too much power for stock clutch to handle, so we installed some Dodson clutch packs, welded baskets to safe guard against higher torque loads and a few other Willall Racing misc parts to keep the trans happy and smooth

once the clutches are bed'd in, ill be hitting the strip. should be good for a low 10s on 21" street tyres (now running mich ps2's) - with boost off the line and cobb v3 adjustable launch control rpm

bit of a visual update to go along with the new mods - current bumper and brushed gunmetal wheel lips for my ADVs
