Just needs to be a bit shinier...

No, seriously you have done an awesome job with this car. I saw it in the flesh at that meeting and it looks mint!

BTW you are lucky not to have been showered with gravel from that idiot in the drag car.

u have some nads putting that buffing machine on your car - u obviously know what you're doing :)

what is the advantage of running a thicker steering wheel?

i luv that lobster back exhaust system - is that titanium? if so, u must have a sound clip to hear this!

using buffing machines comes with practice, it's not that hard. Nissan, and most jdm's, have soft clear coats, so you do have to be careful around panel edges. Flip side is you don't have to go too aggressive with your pad and polish combo to remove defects

yeh my exhaust from midpipe back is 90mm titanium. I have catless downpipes and my midpipe has 2 small high flow cats, though with e85 I really don't need the cats as there's minimal carbon emissions and no blac smoke on full throttle. I may go full catless when I switch to an SD tune - I still have my catless midpipe in storage

I've tried to make sound vids with my gopro but always just end up with a lot of wind noise

My car sounds pretty much identical to this but with the HKS bov flutter - most of the sound comes from catless down pipes and midpipe

  • 5 months later...

just finished up a paint correction with my mate Dan who is a pro detailer - idea was with both of us working at same time we'd get through it a lot quicker, but we soon decided to go all out, and 3 days later.....

protected with opticoat 2.0 which should offer some much needed scratch resistance for this solid black paint and super soft clear

how's your r35 purchase coming along Kenny?

lol @ my first page comments on buying drums of e85 and daily driving on 98

been daily driving on e85 since i got the car back (with the occasional interstate road trip on 98), and now likewise my evo x, thanks to the awesome pump e85 rollout of united here in Melb and their QLD refinery turning sorghum grains into super cheap go fast goodness

Hmmmmmm nah... too much bling bling. If they were anodised black, I'd say yes, but chrome? But each to their own of course! :D

Was it an easy install? do the stockies simply pull off?

went to heathcote with a few other r35s

was a hot and very busy day, only managed 2 runs as the wait was well over an hour - unfortunately with calder closing, this is going to be the norm, and may even get worse

track temp was in mid 30s and intake temps in the mid 70s waiting in the que with aircon on

ran a 10.9 in full auto RRR with LC4 @3200rpm. traction light was blinking through 2nd and 3rd but i didn't really feel the acceleration slow. if i had another run i would have run with traction off, or even tried uploading lc5 for a higher launch rpm. still not a bad result given i was on 21" yokohama advan street tyres - enough to pip the trailored in tub'd vk drag car next to me lol

will be keen to go back in the cooler months, and possibly a bigger cooler by then

ignore trap speed, i lucked out with getting the right hand lane which apparently is off. should be in the low 130's i believe

first r35 in Aus to officially run a 10 with 21" street tyres?

Nice one Sam, what was the 60-130 mph time out of interest? 7.5 or so?

    • You don't need an AC mechanic to fit it. You do need one to vac the system down and fill it. That's how you get refrigerant.
    • Well, it's actually probably worse than you think. I think you have to (minimally) install GKTech's spherical bush replacements to the lower arm's inner ends, because you absolutely cannot subject the original (or poly) bushes to that much misalignment. The better option being to replace the whole lower arm with GKTech's unit. This brings sphericals to the lower inners either way you do it. And are you aware that the kit is weld in and you have to take the subframe out of the car to get it fitted? It's a fair bit of work. These issues both drive my ongoing dithering about doing this to my car, for the last couple of years.
    • The website said you need a AC technican to swap it in. Is that true? How did you fill the refridgerant? Was it easy to install?  If i just got the bracket and the new smaller AC compressor, would the other components be compatible with R134?
    • Hi All Finally getting back to work on the R32 this weekend and had a quick question about the GKTech anti squat kit (https://au.gktech.com/products/s13-180sx-r32-subframe-anti-squat-reduction-weld-in-kit?_pos=39&_fid=eb6b5077e&_ss=c) So, this straightens out the rear LCA and increases the roll centre by 20MM which is great BUT I also have MFR roll centre adjusters (https://www.rhdjapan.com/moonface-super-lap-rc-joint-roll-center-adjuster-bnr32-ps13-rps13.html) which gives a +15MM lift. My question is whether they can/should be used together or if its going to massively effect the geometry? In my mind, I can't see that they work together but was hoping for some feedback on someone who has done this before deciding which to use or if both?   Thanks
    • Agreed. Thing has to be running absolutely pig rich as well. I would worry a lot less about your idle and start going through all your electrical before the car burns down.
