Hello,

I have the option of buying either the standard (SE) Blitz Intercooler or the CS (Chemical Shine) one.

The CS is more expensive and I would have to wait 8 weeks for delivery, the SE is in stock ...

Has anyone experience with the CS? Is it worth the extra $$ and wait?

Thanks .. I was just concerned with the corrosion aspect, since Blitz states that the CS-Inercooler will last longer ..??

If the only difference is aesthetics you should buy the SE as you will then save money and get the respect, To some people, that's more important

protecting it from missiles like stones and the like is probably more important, they are Aluminium after all mate, once a layer has formed over the surface it in a way deters further corrosion.

Is the SE a turn flow? I think a good cooler is well worth it but am not sure about turn flow results on the skylines, I think they cap off at 300kw.

Ill tell you on Monday night. Tuning my R33 with the Blitz (non shiny) and GT30.

I highly doubt it will be a problem.

I don't know about a cap at 300KW, but my car is far from these figures (I guess 270KW (target) is realistic)

Right now I 'just' have the R34 SMIC which was OK with the standard turbo, but I recently upgraded to a hybrid so (I guess) it was

time for a larger FMIC in order to run higher boost figures.

If I will ever go over 300KW I can always 'upgrade'

Yes ..

I went the extra mile (in terms of $$$) to get quality and ease of installation.

Also I wanted to preserve the genuine look of the engine bay and use the existing piping.

There is no drilling or cutting of metal parts of the car required (I hope that is true :)

Ok, well i had my car tuned today.

It was beginning to max out Nismo 555cc injectors interestingly enough. It readed 90% IDC @ 6000rpm making 295rwkw.

Backed things off to 280 and left it there.

So i guess you could say that the blitz turnflow wasnt holding it back any :)

Torques - the only thing you have to cut is the reo bar and even then not by much; a grinder, a hacksaw and 5 minutes of your time is all it will take. I spoke to my tuner about these turn flow FMICs last week...

He reckoned the draw back was not so much that they "top out" it's just that the 180 degree turn in the pipework where it exits the cooler causes turbulence that in turn restricts flow so basically the turbo has to blow a little bit harder for the same result when compared with a non turn flow cooler.

At the end of the day you wouldn't put one on a dedicated track car but most of us on here are more concerned about the boys in blue and keeping our engine bays looking as stock as possible.

I'm happy to compromise a couple of kw's so I don't have to hack up my engine bay and have some pipe work running over the top of the fan or go for an after market manifold...

All sure-fire ways to get the cops to look a little bit harder or reach for the dreaded canary :devil:

As far as I am aware the compressed air is not high velocity, so it might not be as dramatic.

But any sharp bends should be avoided ...

I trust Blitz, they should know what goes and what does not .

Did you have to drill any holes?

I did the whole procedure when I fitted the R34 SMIC, it helps when you know where the screws for the bumper are located.

Today I collected the FMIC (will post pictures) .. it came in a huge box, and it 'just about' found room in the rear of my R33.

Had a quick look into the box, and the FMIC looks pretty nice :)

I will definitely use some kind of mesh to protect the FMIC, any ideas what to use?

It was while ago now but no holes to be drilled I don't think... all mounting holes for the FMIC are already there from the factory and unused

Just cut/grind the reo bar and in my case I had to modify/cut the standard front bar removing the diffuser (again with the grinder but a very easy job)

I bought some mesh from Autobarn (pretty standard stuff, comes in different colours and sizes) which is big enough to stop stones and rocks but not affect air flow.

The black mesh also takes the shine off the FMIC making it a little more stealth (I may yet paint the FMIC matt black for more stealth).

The mesh is cable tied to the front bar (I just drilled some holes in the bottom lip the bar and you can't see the ties unless you get under the car) at first this was to be a temporary measure but I haven't found another easy way of doing it and cable ties seem to do the trick quite well.

As discussed there is some small compromise with the turn flows but I'm not losing any sleep about it.

You would be doing a whole lot of cutting, drilling and farking around if you weren't going turn-flow!

So most of the work seems to be getting the bumper off and on the car, and figuring out

which part of the bar to cut ..

I will jack up the car's front to make life a bit easier

I also bought black mesh to put it in front of the cooler in order to protect it from larger objects ;)

(will be attached to the bumper)

    • I personally would run 2x from the cam covers into the catch can, 1x sump vent to catch can (would mount this at a low point of the catch can, so it can also act as a drain). I would see if you can run a -12AN down there to improve venting and also draining. The head drain thing, just drain that back to the sump on the other side. Catch can to be vented, unless you plumb or back to the intake.
    • Yeah the head "drain" is rather a sump/crank case vent. My catch can stopped filling up after venting the sump to the catch can. I have 4x fittings in mine, which is about 5Ls. 2x cam, 1x sump vent/catch can drain, 1x fitting back to the intake and a massive breather which can be blocked so it's a fully sealed system.
    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
