Guys

I've just put a deposit on a 2000 model DAYZ RS4S (ie manual) in black. Currently its only got a catback, but i have a bunch of stuff to go on it.

I'm moving from an S1 C34 auto (RWD), and I feel this is a decent minor upgrade

Seems I cant find heaps of info on this model though. I'm wondering about stuff like clutch upgrade, and whether these can be nistuned like all other Neo's. How much power can the stock clutch and gearbox take? (I have parts floating around for about 270-280rwkw). Do they have LSD in the rear?

How many of you guys have RS4S'? What do you think of them?

Thanks in advance for your replies

SEARCH IS YOUR FRIEND. But im nice so here ya go.

Clutch upgrade is the same as skyline. Recommended first mod the stock clutch has zero clamp force and won't even hold the stock power.

R34 engine = type 4 nistune.

People are making 300+ with stock gearbox

Front and rear LSD.

There is lots of rs4s owners on here.

hmmm, my clutch is holding out 220kw, no slipping, unless i dump the clutch at 5.5krpm and above in 4wd mode, then i get a slight slip.

clutch is 30k km old.

but they are def a fun car to own. just make sure you do some decent stability mods, they handle pretty bad.

Ok so i just took delivery of it. Drives great except that it crunches into 4th gear, so i'll need to get that looked at

Regarding suspension, I've already got the following ready to install

Tein coilovers

Cusco Castor Rods

Whiteline swaybars

Adjustable front upper arms

Cusco Adjustable rear upper arms.

Alloy subframe lock kit

Is it worth getting a hicas lock kit? I'm not a big fan of letting the electronics decide what direction I should be going so i'm tempted to do that

This thing is a bit slow compared to our other stageas. I'm sure the 3076 i'll be installing on it shortly should resolve that issue though :)

Are Dayz S2 RS4S in black a common thing? I dont recall having seen one before

Also WHY NO CUPHOLDERS!??!! There must be a reason they decided to install a blanking plate on the RS4S' rather than the cup holders under the stereo.

There are two small cup holder recesses in the centre console.

I would be interested to see how you how you with a GT3076. The manual stagea is a big lump to get off the line and I think it might be a bit docile down low but will haul once a few revs are onboard.

The stock clutch will hold reasonable power. Mine was FUBAR'ed on arriving from Japan and wouldn't hold decent power on the dyno. I went through two cushioned button clutches. The first had issues from the date of install and was replaced soon after. The 2nd one was a pain in the arse to use on inclined roads in traffic due to the weight of the stagea, it bogs down so easily with a button clutch or you need to launch it.

The current NPC clutch is so much better for the street. NPC higher clamp organic clutch is a gem.

The reason for no cup holders is you wouldn't be able to pull them out when your in 1st, 3rd or 5th

Pfft, they're fine where they are. Mine's a converted car (s1 with R32 GT-R box), and I can still use the cup holders under the stereo while driving.

Im curious as to why you would want cup holders anyway, that's what legs are for. After driving classic toyotas for the last 8 years I haven't even considered cup holders to actually hold a drink of any kind, my cup holders in the stagea hold the bolts that don't fit anywhere/fall off and my garage door button.

Not a bad example of a stagea.

Ok i'm going to stick some cupholders back in. Worst case is I'll bump the cups when changing gears.

LOL at using legs to hold the cups. You obviously aren't driving hard enough! :)

Hopefully my new stagea will have some significant changes over the next few weeks

hey mate if you got all this gear to go in your rs4s i hope the coilovers etc didnt come out of an rs4v cos they wont fit.

coilovers is the best thing i did to mine for better 'drivability' aka doesnt feel like your cornering in the titanic

rear is an active LSD, my rear wheels skip like a locked diff when turning close to full-lock

i actually like hicas and dont understand why people hate it so much

because old hicas tends to play up and get really buggy/worn/does random stuff

new hicas is good unless your on a track and know the exact conditions etc
