Hi, my R34 GTR NUR engine is for sale

This engine was in my R32 GT-R and has done approximately 43,000kms. The engine was sourced as a brand new crate motor from Nissan Japan, and was given an extensive workover at Prime Garage including a host of brand new uprated parts and head porting before being installed into the car.

Enhancements to the engine prior to installation include:

- Mild Head Porting to Prime Garage specification

- Brand New R34 GTR N1 Turbos with N1 Actuators

- Tomei Metal Gasket Kit Inc. 1.2mm Head Gasket

- Head Removed - Tolerances & Clearances Reset to Prime Garage specifications

- New R34 GTR Injectors

- New Injector Seal Kit

- New Oil Pressure Sensor

- New Genuine Nissan R34 GTR Coil Packs

- New Ignition Module (Over $500.00 on its own)

- New R33 GTR N1 Crank Balancer Pulley

- Various New Hoses & Clamps

- All New Studs & Pins

- R34 GTR Sump Removed & Replaced with BNR32 Sump (To Retain R32 Diff Ratios)

Additional Bolt-on Modifications Added:

- Tomei 76mm Stainless Dump Pipes (Yep, the BIG ones)

- Tomei Expreme Stainless Exhaust Manifolds

I will sell the engine as either a long motor, or as complete package with the Turbos, Tomei Dump pipes, Tomei Manifolds, Plenum etc. The Plenum, Turbo's and exhaust manifolds/dumps etc have been removed for inspection and a compression test has just been completed showing 165 Psi across all 6 cylinders, so it is in excellent condition - More pics will be available Saturday.

The engine and parts will be avaliable for inspection or purchase this Saturday (8/10) at Castle Hill for anyone that is interested.

Please note that one of the R34 N1 Turbo's may require a rebuild. (not sure but think one might need rebuild will know more on

I am asking $7500 firm for the complete package which is an absolute steal given a brand new R34 NUR Engine will set you back ~$20,000 in long bare form, and thats if you can actually find one!

Will list out some prices for individual items as well over the weekend.

Cheers!

Every thing you see here can go with the engine , ss tomei manifolds have some heat cracks in them but can be repaired and one of n1 turbos needs rebuild, i will also sell things seperately if any one wants anything ! Im open to offers as looking to sell quick as i have new project i want to get on with ! :)

    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
    • Sorry for reviving an old post, but I'm having the same hot idle tick issue. Did anyone ever find out what it was?  I have checked/ replaced Injectors Coils checked Lifter clerance (is at zero) Checked Cam lobes Replaced exhaust gasket and studs Would appreciate any advice this is driving me nuts
    • There's a huge reason manufacturers are tuning in dead flat torque curves... Make them reliable (and more drive able)
