Yup - airbox with pooer duct.

Mine wasn't really different when it had the Pod and the AFM after the turbo anyway (besides on boost). The Pod had epic cold air from the front wheel arch.

The Kinetix plenum is massive thermal improvement on the alloy unit. can pop the bonnet and still put your hand on it after a long drive, where you'd end up with 2nd degree burns from the stockie.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, taking the barge out to the "CAMS Come and Try day" on Saturday, so might have some track / texi footage up soon.

Its on the Eastern Ck South circuit, and the skid pan. Its not a full on track day, but more of a taster of a couple of motorsport disciplines under the guidance of more experienced people.

I have given her some fresh pads, fixed the sump, and going to be bleeding the brakes on Friday. Didn't get a chance to get a tune on it, but stock map is supersafe, so won't have any issues on the track, except for fuel consumption :P

Will also be interesting to see what temps I see after all the cooling system overkill for a NA car.

CAMS come and try day :

Firstly - Thanks to JETWRECK, WAGON_BOY, and ANDY65B (or whatever it is) for coming out with Cameras and stuff! Great to see you guys as always.

Had a great day - fun/non serious atmosphere, loads of variety of cars. Very nice BB BNR34 GTR in the last session, and a few other Lines out there.

Besides the "speed limit" I did manage to get up to a sneaky 140km/h down the back bit. Instructor was great - very informative and calm. Instilled a good level of confidence and level headedness. Motor held up fine - bloody over engineered the cooling system so the thermos didn't even switch on. Brake pads were the first thing to start to go, but only had a long pedal a couple of times over the sessions. Pity the traffic was so heavy. Would have liked to have at least one good timed session, but was stuck behind quite a bit of traffic.

Motorkhana times- I did 4 runs.

RWD: first lap - 33.82 then 31.82

Put the fuse back in so AWD

30.38 and best time of 29.67 before I pulled aside.

Got a round a of applause from the timing crew, so I don't think many were below 30 secs. Hope they put the times up, but don't think they were officially recorded. Only other sub 30 sec time I heard was an Audi quattro wagon. Wagon FTW!

All in all a great day!

Now I know there is Pics and Vids of the Texi / Track- so please share Craig/Theo/Andy :)

skid pan pic's...........

(due to operator error and shi**y weather/cloud cover i f**ked up the shots from the track most of them are pixelated/blurry) FFS!!! :(

Don't know about "at home" but it sure did surprise a few people, and did not disgrace itself.

Very fortunate to have such awesome people in the community. Thanks for the vids/pics guys.

I felt them overheat a couple of times. They aren't race spec, more high performance road. Fluid was fine, I only got long pedal once, and after a couple of corners it was fine. Overall they were pretty good, only overheated after I put some big stops into them on purpose to try it out. You'd want to go higher than 550 degrees for track days. Big old barges are hard on brakes.

    • Plan on the day will be to park trackside. Depending on space availability we will try put a small shade tent and a few of the cars on top of the hill inside turn 3, this is an easy to get to parking area with views of Turn 2, Turn 3, Turn 4 and Turn 5 and limited other pieces of the view around the track. IMPORTANT NOTE! One consideration from previous years is from memory the trackside parking sells out before the admission tickets, for that reason I encourage anyone planning on coming to buy tickets for parking now via the official website; https://www.worldtimeattack.com/ The type of parking you are looking for is 2 Day Park & View (Access Around Venue) Vehicle Pass Only Please note this does not include admission to the event itself, remember to grab that also, and kids under 12 get in for free!
    • This is going to be a mid week evening cruise. Come along and join us for a drive out to Palm Beach. This is a change of event plans after talking to some of the older members of the club. If this is what you want please come to one of our track days. This is an official SAUNSW event and will be run under a Motorsport Australia permit. Thanks guys and hope to see you there!
    • Good time for a carbon roof
    • Not in any way aroused by any of those, except maybe the big AMGs. And that would break my never a Euro, ever, rule.
