ok so a couple of days ago now i was driving down the road and heard a pop noise so i looked in my rear view mirror and i see a whole pile of steam behind me. So i drove the car home seeing as i was at the end of my street and popped the bonnet to see where it was coming from but i couldnt see a dam thing so i just let it sit there over night wondering what could have blown.

next morning i walked out side and had a look, checked all of the hoses and everything but couldnt find a thing till i checked the welsh plug at the back of the head and to my surprise apparently i blew the whole middle of the welsh plug out and only the outside ring is left

so my question is, is there anyway i can replace this without taking the whole engine out? or am i just gonna have to suck it up and remove the engine?

Facing the exact same problem.. RB20DE engine has lost its welsh plug at the back of the engine.. Right up against the firewall... I can stick my hand in there and feel around but really cant do much else without taking the rest of the engine out... I did hear about expanding rubber plugs that can be used? I couldnt find any other info on this tho.. As I dont have the facilities at home, how much would I be looking at if I took it to a shop and they had to lift everything out etc etc..? Better off even dropping a 25 in, cost wise?
