Rb30 Crank Journals

Hi

I m in the process of getting my block machined for 700whp rb26 conversion

I have been reading "spool imports" guide and they said to do angular groove on the rb30 crank journals when using rb26 bearings as they have more oil ports on the rb26 bearings then rb30

But seems like they are the only ppl doing the rb30/26 conversion that are doing this mod ? How come no one else is doing it ??

Is it not needed ?

Its more a personal preference. We used to do it years ago, but got lazy and dont bother anymore.

You can use still use the Gtr bearings with no issues, you just wont be able to take advantage of the extra oiling provided by the extra holes.

We've done a few annular grooves lately but as r33_racer said it comes down to personal preference, works fine with and without

i didn't bother with it in my n/a 26/30

I was considering doing this but I feel the extra oil volume/pressure from an upgraded pump should be enough. This isn't experience though. it is just what I'm doing with my personal RB30. (also shooting for 700-800whp)
