Japanese OCR Packages

hey guys, want your help with getting my hands on a Jap OCR package. Ideally I want something like Omnipage OCR (Jap edition) but I'll settle for anythign that can recognise kanji characters. I've seen a couple floating aroudn that transfer a scanned image into MS Word.

Reason I need it is coz I've got a crapload of technical documents and catalogues n guides etc in japanese (came down in the last container with some other goodies). I can read the katakana n hiragana, but the kanji has me guessing (coz I dunno what they mean most of the time). If I could scan the pages into a text doc, and then run em thru a translator, I should be able to get a "japlish" translation. I should be able to then fill in the blanks with the grammar and what I can understand n get some documentation happening.

So if you guys don't mind "backing up" some software for me, I'd be most grateful...

I don't use "OCR" packages... I've got real-life Jap translator... she cooks and cleans too!

my gf reads basic jap, n I have a kindergaden understanding of written jap, but the kanji has us both stumped.

Same here, I don't have any OCR software, never used it and never needed it...got the missus instead

its OK, i just bought an OCR package in japan for Y2000, works out to be 25 bucks, which is reasonable. Tonenes n tonnes of info on Skylines.... here I come.
