Buying an r32 gts-t

Financing it so I need (and want) comprehensive insurance.

Rang my normal broker who is a friend and he can't touch it.

Im over 25 but being an import and turbothey just don't touch it.

Who do u guys use, just car? Shannons? Am I going to get bent over? Is it a head f**k?

What can I expect to pay and how to car values go with imports?

Thanks for all your help.

I insurance both my cars under just car. I'm 24, paid about $1200 for the year for the gts-t. Insured for about 12000.

Edit: that's for a r33 gts-t

yeah it all relies on driving record, etc etc.

i got both the liner and missus Beetle thru shannons for 1300 a year. (shannons is owned by suncorp)

expect these numbers man, its HIGH risk vehicle!!!

and if you've lost your liscence and been a silly bugger expect alot more.

cheapest i had on the liner was thru suncorp for 770 a year, but that was market value with a silly excess.

+1 Shannons, great price, policy, and customer service.

definately.

hahaha, u ready to cry people?

Thru Shannons it costs me $550 a year to comprehensively insure my modded to the mother, HKS turboed, R33 GTST (n they know about the mods). (insured for 14k)

Also $500 for my Suzuki GSXR 750.

so that works out that i have an average of 575bhp per tonne (Veyron territory) comprehensively insured for an average of $525 per year

(sorry, it always peps me up when i do those sums)

yummy...

Hmmm they want $1400 a year, seems expensive on a $8000 car?

you must be a miserable driver if you take up that offer. Surely you don't want to fork out 17.5% on insurance .

Just go 3rd party property damage. Why do you need comprehensive on a cheap car. Even 4% is a bit high in my view which is what I pay on my car

Why wouldn't you? For eg coming home from work in my work car and I got crashed into and it was declared my fault. The car was only worth 4 grand but had comp insurance on it. Now if I did not have insurance I was going to be out of pocket what ever it cost for a new work car. But since I did I got 3500 back bought a another car for 2 grand with 1500 to do what ever I like with.

I'd recommend you give the following a call after Just Car and Shannons.

Allianz, NRMA, Suncorp.

They are completely independant (Just car and Shannons are owned by Suncorp but all have different underwriters) of each other and have fluctuations of when they will take on more grey imports. I call them regularly to see if the price I have is crap, hell just after Brisbane floods my premiums on my car went down by $120 and I live in the inner north side. Probably helps that my street etc is not a flood zone though =P

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
