Need some feedback, younger brother is looking for a car...He sent me a link to a 94 Civic hatchback....

Manual, 200,000kms, rego, aircon 4 new tires etc etc etc.... $3600.

What are they like? Decent cars? Reliable?

Price seem reasonable etc?

fixies are kinda a step back in technological progress aint it?

why use fixies when you have freewheel hubs to use?

I have a flip flop rear hub so atm its set to freewheel but I can take it off and reverse it for a fixed gear. Riding a fixed gear gives you a better feel, more in tune with the bike.

Sounds alright, Hondas are very reliable but if I was buying a hatch for a first car and didn't care about being cool, I'd probably get a more recent and lower mileage Kia Rio for around the same money.

I've already talked this kid down from blowing ~$15k on an Aurion.... He plays poker for a living, so he needs to be smart at the moment, get something cheap until he's working again and then get whatever he wants... So $4k for a civic is a nice step down, still not a terrible car for a younger person... I'll mention Kia Rio to him anyway...

Only problem with Honda, expensive to replace bits - given they realistically are shitbucket.

Also 200k kms - try find something with around 150k in the price range (with serv history) would be a better bet.

If its in good condition, that's a pretty good price. It's just a car really. The car is dirt cheap on fuel, enough of a car to get you from A to B (dont know what you classify as decent) and pretty reliable, engines last a long time. Support for them is pretty amazing too, can find parts really easily on ozhonda, and sometimes even cheaper just to grab an engine off ozhonda (few hundred) and drop it in. My only pet hate with them is that the fuel sensor is crappy, fluxes 1/4 of a tank going left and right.

Good car nonetheless.

chris king single speed, is seriously all you need..

and if you've got a flip flop. white industries eno freewheel, you'll never look at the fixed gear ever again.
