wish i had cash

had a stack saved then bills / rego / other shit came up

back to poor as f**k

need a 2nd job!

I don't have this issue now, I wonder why...

Powdercoating done right is stronger than paint

Interesting. I have heard the opposite. Powdercoating is cheaper so you'd think it'd be not as good

Nah its about the same in strength and finish etc

however what a lot of people don't know is with powdercoating alloy wheels you need more heat to bake the powder so if its say an alloy wheel you coat you can actually alter the properties in the wheel if its been heat treated when it was made. I was heading towards powdercoating for the BBS's until I found this out and went paint, stays in the low bake over @ around 60 degrees instead of the 200+ powdercoating needs

yeah thats what we've just decided to do.

i wonder where pat lives......

after ive blown all of my money on it? f**k no.

i want to own the very best r32 sedan, the best there ever was, to comeplete is is my real test, to own it is my cause.

R32 SEDAN!

luls my rails have been crushed in by an apprentice when lifting car... manager agreed to pay for repair costs but by the time i had any free time, it was already 1yr after it happened. It's been like 3yrs now. I wonder how he would react if i went back now and asked for that repair lol

So many mixed opinions with the powder coat vs painting

these are the rims: (not sure what they're made out of)

http://www.vertiniwh...agic-silver.htm

Would you guys suggest powder coated or painted for em?? I want to go matte black

also have to be careful not to have the rims sandblasted...

soda blasting is better if you can get it done

this too, sandblasting pits the wheels and makes it really hard to get a flat finish, soda blasting is good as an alternative

but the best is to sand the rims down by hand going through different grits of sandpaper

Or just buy new ones in non-gay colours

haha i would have if I could have, but all of the super rs's are silver that i found

^ lol

Yeah I wanted these in black but found them cheap

Nick where did you get your BBS's painted and how much?

my old panelshop at mates rates, was cheap so you wouldn't get that price

with 4 door moulds, 2 front bar moulds (all 6 had to be hi-filled as well) 4 door handles and the 4 rim centers and rim caps was $400

wouldn't spray paint the exterior/body panels now would you...

its the engine bay, its going to get scratched chipped f**ked up etc.

no need to spend big bucks painting it.

haha, if you need some parts etc i got a half cut now..

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
