Back from sydney tonight from a work trip.. big day.. left ipad on plane.. as i realized once i got home "Oh f**k!" the phone rings "Leigh did you leave an ipad on the plane" good service from Virgin happy about that.. apparently it happens all the time.

It was on tv in adelaide and who knows where else ?

the car was from vic it wasnt specific about where the fuel was stolen , i laugh at how you guys pass it off like nothing and attack a fellow sau member ( not a young noob either) yes i posted it in vic on purpose

Aaron have you looked into when you get your 'Merc', if it's you or your employer that will be liable for FBT? Some companies make the employee liable for the cost. But I'm assuming a mega-rich company like Mercedes will just pay it on behalf of its employees.

i dont get what you mean..

after a year of employment im pretty sure the car is work in as part of your package including fuel insurance rego servicing(which it doesnt need) and at 7000km on the car you notify fleet and they organise you a brand new one for just before 8000km. but it all depends on if your level 5 and higher.. 6/7 only get a lease

If I have to pay for the car as part of employee lease(which im hoping i dont have to) apparently the lease amount is claimed back through tax(well for me anyway because I travel in the car for work)

im not 100% sure though because its still 10 or so months away

Well I'm not 100% on it as I won't see the new employment contract until the year has passed. I'm just getting info from people that are on on. I'm just told that if I use the car for more than 50% work use then I can claim a portion or if not the full amount back. But the my boss is saying it will be factored in to you salary package as a company car so I won't have to pay anything. Even excess if I smash the thing is covered by benZ..

Be careful where you get your tax advice.

If your salary sacrificing you cannot double dip and claim a tax deduction. Also in regards to the MV this > 50% thing is fairy tales. If you are using 1% of your MV for business use then you claim 1% (log book method),
