On another note, ever since I swapped in my standard airbox I'd lost 50-60km per tank of fuel and felt a little down on power. Swapped my pod back in and it's all sweet again. It was tuned with the pod on, but I thought pod vs airbox was supposed to make SFA difference besides sound. Also, Ric is running more power with the standard airbox...you done any mods to the airbox Ric?

Interesting mr birds, I haven't done back to back test between pod and stock air box myself, but was told the same by sfa of difference.

What kind of filter in your stock air box by any chance?

Makes my blood boil those kids should be smacked around severely and the parents as respect starts at home & school

I look at the government schools around my area the kids are all oxygen theives I just know my tax will be paying for there sorry existence when I was at school all sir/mrs stand up when principal came into the room even just basic uniform policy that was enforced is good foundations

Much work to fit the GTR bov? I'm running 16psi and it doesn't always happen, only when the throttle plate slams shut on a fast gear change.

crossover pipe bolts on perfectly but the return pipe is a larger diameter than gtst. the gtr return hose ID is almost the same as the gtst return hose OD. i mcguyver'd it by slipping the gtst hose inside the gtr one and cable ties but would not reccommend cos it makes a horrible honking vibration on partial boost

Cheers Basti, will give it a shot.

P.S. An online charity was set up to support elderly woman and it looks like she'll be getting 100k from it...bit ridiculous but she definitely deserves something after that.

Nah man, bog stock. I remember we took off the snorkel and the lid on the dyno and it made negligible difference. Never had a pod so can't compare.

That sucks though, I'd love a bit more power and better economy lol

This is what happens when parents don't smack their kids. Disgraceful.

lucky you can't really see kids faces (only one shortly) because they would get knocked the f**k out if people saw them

I really want to right now myself

Dad is getting old, crashed his car. I think he had a minor heart attack or something mum told me his chest was hurting last night.

Stubborn prick still went to work instead of doc's

What a way to start the day

no shit. my dad calls me at 7 last night and sez he's gonna be late coming home from work and to tell some dude that he was expecting to visit that he'll take a raincheck. cool cool. so i head out to play some indoor. check my phone after (11pm) and find like 20 billion missed calls from mum. apparently, he had fin work at 4, gone to the docs and was ambo'd to the hospital. they admitted him and held him there for 6hrs then sent him home. first thing he did when he got home was to fill up a glass with scotch. by the time i get home he's passed out drunk on the couch.

for added context, he's had a major heart attack last year.

our dad's should hang out

Anyone know the boost limits of the standard R33 GTS-T bov? Starting to get compressor surge at high boost.

had mine up at 2 bar with no fails (although that could have contributed to the motor failing lol)

    • Everything I found online said never use it because it'll dramatically reduce belt lifespan.  No, but I have seen excessive v-belt tension cause the audible bearing noise from excessive radial load in things like alternators. So don't overdo it. Ideally you set it to manufacturer spec using a proper belt tension guage. I tried the "clicker" type gauges but those cheap things are trash. They read way too low even when you're careful.
    • This is kind of where I've ended up for the most part. It's easier for me, easier for shops that don't have to deal with my weird criteria/picky standards, etc.
    • Will do. Suprised if it's not the starter motor considering it's 30 years old. Will get a volt meter though. Battery is close to new.   Cheers for your help, always appreciated.
    • This almost never happens these days. No. Clean your battery terminals and make sure they are tight. Use sandpaper on a dowel if you have to, to get oxidation off the inside of the terminals, particularly on the -ve. Check the earth cable from battery post to chassis ground and engine ground. Make sure the contact surfaces are clean - including the threads on the bolts that anchor them - because that's where a lot of the contact occurs. Wire wheel on a drill is a good thing for this. Make sure the crimps on those cables are all sound. Assuming none of that causes an improvement: Check the battery voltage after it has been resting for a while. If it's at the lower end of the range, put it on charge for a while, then see if it will crank better.
    • I just checked my belt, it wasn't super loose but I could bend it past 90 degrees a small amount so I tightened it up and for the first time ever my car didn't crank first time, had to crank it again lol. Don't know if that was because I tightened the belt or if it's my starter motor going out (been having slow starts for some time). Coulda also been when I was recording I didn't crank the key properly and it didn't save the recording lol.   Is that a thing if you overtighten a belt it struggles to start?
