Shit, 2K+ tax debt - I'm going to need some minimisation strategies

Why do you have a $2k+ tax debt? Calculating your tax early lol

I bet you either a.

  • Made too much money on investments/other income
  • Have a HECS/HELP debt that you didn't declare to your payroll officer

Or C...declared a tax free threshold with two employers :P

Dezz you seem to be pretty excited about a big tax refund

Hell have no fury if Dezz needs to pay tax

I'll be fleeing the country if you do, I won't be safe

First off, I NEED a big tax return or I'm f**ked

Secondly, if I've been paying too much tax every week since November, how would I owe more when I've never had to pay extra and always gotten a return?

And lastly, it should be big given the above, and the fact that I got $1600 last year, having not overpaid tax for 30 weeks as a result of not claiming the TFT in a new job, and with practically no deductions vs this year having paid too much tax for the last ~30 week's and a shitload of deductions...

But maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about

Dezz if your really eager I can calculate a base refund based on your year to date payslip.

Alex his talking about 'ticking the box' for the tax free threshold from his employer. As he hasn't ticked it, his employer will withhold more tax.

I'll give you the details off Thursday's pay slip

I'm just taking the logical approach and hoping for a big refund

F all deductions = $1600

No TFT for 30 weeks + thousands in deductions must surely = a decent refund
