If its just for switching between two tunes, I'd be getting an ECU that supported dual tune storage... Or buying an extra PFC (ECU Only) and just swapping it over while at the servo :P

? Trent has a hub dyno which will give different results to roller dyno. (Due to less variables - slip, tyre pressure, temperature etc)

no... no it doesn't. results are within the same range as different roller dyno's

How difficult is it to save your existing tune to laptop and swap between maps?

lol Leigh might have something to say about hub vs roller.

Awesome, can't wait...though with any luck I won't need to switch tunes often at all.

lol not gonna get into this again.. but a certain supra made 430 somewhere and 348 at chasers dyno the other week, i beat it :D

all dynos are different, who cares it just means you go to the same place when you get work done to see the difference on power curve.

I can have up to 3 tunes on mine, So good for swapping from e85 to 98 and a valet tune :D

I think what man of beard is saying is that there's also differences between roller dynos at different shops, hence running on a hub dyno will also have the different calibration to a roller or another hub?

All dynos are different. I don't think hub vs roller has all that much to do with it

Spend a few $k and get a Octane Sensor and an ECU which'll let you flex the hell out of the fuel with anything you like.

Half 91 octane and Half diesel.... Will make Nick so jelly :P

For an R33 GTS-T that I've already over capitalised on...this makes lots of sense!

Haha not really, 91 is still more expensive than diesel atm LOL

More variables are at play when using roller, can't deny that. However the magnitude of impact of those variables on the output is debatable.

Cisco IP phones, you can select background.

unless your draconian sys admin locks it down......grrrr

I tend to change peoples ringtones to the Saxophone tone (if you haven't heard it, try it out LOOL) then lock the min volume to 15(which is max) and watch them rage :P

That said, a lot of those variables are set into the program and a Correction method used to make different types of dynos, temps, diff ratios, pressures, etc read "the same" as each other.

Never works out that way though.

In the end of the day:
If you want to compare one car to another, you put them next to each other on a track or drag strip.

If you want to compare your car to a previous tune, you do it on the same dyno and look at the graph/numbers.

I learnt real quick that numbers mean nothing, especially peak power figures. If you've got no midrange, or torque, you're going to get raped by that bodykitted excel golf with frangipani stickers teh lowz.

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
