I will join you guys... Just answer me pls

/bikelinesaustralia brahs, want to post up / pm me rough costs for picking up and starting down the road of motorbikes? E.g. rego, insurance, gear, maintenance? Getting keen again. Have researched a bit but always good to here more accounts & opinions.

Thinking of standard learner bikes like ninja 250, VTR250, or gs500f... not the fastest I think, but still cool and good resale?

I should probably save my money... But live it up while I'm young and get one anyway? XD

Even if I go through with it - couldn't afford a Ninja 300... would love one though :'(

Yea just get a ninja 250 or something like that to learn on for a year wont loose much money, rego is like 400 bucks for a 250 and insurance just get third party which is probably like $150.

Gear wise you'll need helmet $300-500 (mine was like 480, could spend upto 1k if you want, depends what fits and feels good), kevlar jeans like $200, jacket is $4-500, gloves $50-130 and I'd recommend getting some boots when you can afford them say $200-250 for normal ones. TBH gear really depends on what you want to spend, but personally i'd set aside 1-1.5k for gear.

Pretty much summing up what I thought the costs would be like! Looking pretty positive so far :D

And hoping can get one with decent amount of rego so I can avoid paying that even / getting absorbed in bike budget.

With insurance, is there a difference between third party, and theft? Noticed insuremyride separates the two...?

Did you buy your gear online?

Ninja 250 tempting. OR do I go oldschool boyracer (boyrider) and gamble with a CBR250RR (not thrashed at all )xD

3rd party, you hit someone else your insurance company will pay for their damages but not yours. Theft, your vehicle is stolen, they'll pay you out for agreed or market value depending on your contract.

guys, me need your help with a school research project, its on energy saving and stupid shit like that.

would appreciate if you guys would fill out this survey, i need about 10-20 respondents.

Alvin, you seem to have skipped inputting multiple answers for one of the questions....

What temperatures is the air conditioning set for normally?

    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
    • We import a lot of cars from Japan. I'd say that approximately 20% of our traffic is imported JDM cars (mainly consumer cars like the Mazda Demio, Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Suzuki Swift, etc.). We also import a lot from the UK, but this has decreased after Brexit. Apart from the consumer vehicles, two of the larger, well-known dealerships frequently import iconic '80s/'90s JDM cars. I haven't heard of anyone importing from Australia, and they are not advertised (unlike Japanese ones), despite a lot of Maltese migrating to Australia in the '50s and '60s.
