done it.

they want to know EVERYTHING.

this is pretty accurate....

when I started at the bank they did a 5 year check and it was a nightmare.

my job that I had 4 years and 11 months prior was in a restaurant that had shut down and still wan't good enough. ended up having to resubmit it a couple of weeks later when it had moved out of the 5 years

Nice work. Mate of mine works there I think (or maybe it's DSD)

I've done one of the security clearance things, it's long but you just have to cop it lol

It's unpaid work for 3months though.... just need some experience and a foot in the door to get known. Not sure how I'm going to survive with no moneeyyy. :-/

Yep, including all info about family.

Did the security check take 6-8weeks because that's what I've been advised.

about that, yea.

depends where you are going for work afterwards, if its somewhere that needs the clearance, already having it is a big plus as they dont have to organise or wait for it.

if you have to go pos vet, just /wrists and end it.

no one likes to dig up 15 years worth of past employers/housing/etc

OK so security clearance.

The Australian Government Security Vetting Agency

these are the guys I work with as I'm the security Manager at our site.\

we have staff go though Neg 1 vetting,.

they check:

full family esp if any over seas, so parents siblings etc

full finance, all loans, debts, income, strange expenses etc

travel for the past 10 years..(i'm redoing mine atm, and with 50-100 OS trips such a pain)

all places you have lived in past 10 years

school/uni grades

they will contact ex teachers friends etc to get a feel for your charature

questiosn about drug actions

partners and such will get a mild BG check.

then there 2 levels of security higher.

so similar info just for longer and more back ground

all I can say is be honest.

if you smoked dope for a couple years admit to it, as if they find out you lie it worse than saying you did it.

that said better if you didn't

multiple speeding fines not so good.

multiple drink driving will fail you

any criminal conviction is very bad.

if you need more info PM me and I can give you a call and discuss.

Thanks heaps Martin! Will PM you if I have any questions upon. :-D

my sister went for a job with ASIO a few years ago (im sure theyll hunt me down for saying this...)

and it was worse than applying for the military. Took 8 months to get to round 3 or something which is a flight to canberra for an interview. Went through all detail Martin mentioned plus more, social networking sites, previous relationships, IQ and psychological tests. Didn't get the job anyway or didnt hear back and just moved on with life. I was more concerned that the government spends so much money investigating possible employees and spends so much time and money doing it, only to never hear from them again probably because they take so long.

yeah my clearance is about the lowest level of the "intense ones"

at the time it was the highest you could get working private sector nto for the gov,

there now 3 levels above it and no way would I like to go though that.

Then more internal gov that we just don't hear about.
