car looks good hamish

looked at another evo 8 today

asked him on the phone, whats wrong with it, smokers car etc? nah all good , no issues, non smoker

rock up

smelt of smoke, cigarette in the ash tray

wouldnt go into reverse properly

bonnett doesnt line up

rear bar different colour

both diffs clunk going at low speed around a round-a-bout

at least it had no rust

fkn lol some people are just dream boats

the first one I looked at was probably the worst car I have ever seen... never reg in aust and was clearly an ex track pig in japan:

evo VII

- rust... rust everywhere

- stereo missing

- harness mounts still in car preventing seat from moving back

- seats ripped and bolster destroyed

- every panel from a wreckers from a different car

- every single panel a different shade of white

- no panels lined up at all

- both rear tail lights cracked

- rear smashed in and badly repaired

- front smashed in and badly repaired with visible welds in engine bay

- guage mounts on car drilled into dash

- sound deadening removed from underside of car

- entire bottom of car completely rusted and half assedly sprayed black before sale

- odo clearly wound back by 100,000

- wheels cracking and rusted in parts

- engine clearly returned to stock for export from j-land (all bolts rusted and seized except where performance parts bolt on (turbo etc)

car looked mint in photo's.

guy was asking 19k and wasn't willing to drop the price a dollar lol

he got angry when I told him why I didn't want it and that I wouldn't even pay $5k for it

told him to sell it in parts if he wants to see even 10k

I drove 1 hour to see that piece of shit :/

Can confirm food by Vu De Monde chef was awesome

sweet... details of any sort to follow?

When I put in two wheels (18x9.5, or 17x9 (same rolling diameter with tyres on)) into the back of the 33 with rear seats in, it pushes against the trim panels squeezes them in about 1cm... So two wheels car sit side by side just fine and then two more stacked on top...

Not sure how they'd go standing upright (same orientation/direction as if they were on the car), but I don't put them in like that in case I need to brake hard :P

If I'm just putting two wheels in the back seat, I normally have one sitting flat, and the other sitting on an angle on top of it. Doesn't push against the side trims that way.

I could of had a big mac afterwards. But for top quality food for $50 can't complain

E85 economy is as follows

44 litres cost $53 today and netted me 238km, with fairly aggressive driving as per dat newfound power.

From this, we can deduce that 400km (my usual tank fill up point on 98 unleaded) would require ~74 litres at a cost of ~$89, which is only a few dollars more than I would spend on 98 to get the 400km (probably just over $80).

Be interesting to see if E85 and 98 sit on par for cost at my next fill up, given less aggressive / more daily driving with the current tank. But so far...

In car news, yesterday arvo was in my mate's car (8mr) and went up to Arthur's Seat for kicks as we were nearby in Rosebud... Nek minnit, R32 skyrice getting very much sideways action going on chasing us haha. Dem ballz.

Also saw what I think was one of those ferrari/lambo experience days.

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
