Where to go to get some QM1 mixed up into a spray can?

I've got a front bar at home that I want to paint.

Any idea of a rough price on a can of basecoat and a can of auto acrylic clear?

You do realise that Trent uses a correction mode that gives basically the same results as a dyno dynamics... Only more accurate...

Just cos he does a better job than your mob for half the cash is no reason to hate :P

We've dyno'd cars that the previous tune was with Trent, and they are a HUGE difference in readings. Donello Performance has dyno'd cars after Trent has tuned them and still, 50-100kw difference I shit you not. I know of a 33 GTR that's currently about to have an engine rebuild, supposedly made 500kw on Trents dyno even though the turbo's he had on it are not known for producing that power, and guess what, dyno'd and made no where near that, couldn't even crack 400rwkw.

Add to the fact that today I just removed an engine from a GTR that had been tuned by us, then he decided he wanted more power, went to Trents, got more power, then it pinged and put a hole through the piston the next time he went to the track. I wish I could say that he's a good tuner, but even driving the cars in and out with his tune, lmao trying to start them in the morning... don't even get me started on his E85 Cold Start tunes.

The only people rant on about Trent is because he gets big power figures, so forum warriors can fap over it and brag and omg its so fast hes actually the best... yet they've never really had it tuned elsewhere to know what they're talking about.

Also just FYI, the average tune costs $5-600 iirc, I don't think Trent is doing them any cheaper than that, but I guess the saying rings true, you get what you pay for.

I know of a few horror stories from race pace too FYI... But I had enough respect for the business to keep it to harmless jokes and not outright slander.

Speaking of jokes, maybe I should post the racepace quote for an RB25 straight swap I got a coupe of years back ;)

Trent has been tuning my cars since 2007, and I have had no dramas, all four cars he's been tuning is running fine so far.

About the dyno differences. I'll post up comparison against a more know turbocharger for example the SS-4 Alpha model you've seen earlier.

Standard GT3540 equivalent in .82 rear:

R33 GTST, Factory spec engine, with high mount and external gate.

431rwkws @ 25psi E85 fuel, full boost reached at 4650RPMs

ATR43SS-4 Alpha. That makes 435rwkws @ 25psi also, while making full boost by 4150RPMs, Nothing's changed except turbocharger:

Using this turbocharger, you are expecting similar amount of power as a GT3540 with better response. So that might be making more sense to people operating other branded dyno meters.

Also which workshop are you operating from?

Oh I understand that, I think every workshop probably has a gremlin or two thanks to the internet. I just don't like the fanboyism of Trent on the internet, sure he can tune and quite often there can be no complaints, he does a good job. I've just seen too many first hand to go "Nope no thanks!". Also all workshops quote exorbitant prices when they don't want to do the job just FYI.

Edit: Very impressive figures Stao!

Broci88:

In terms of tuning, lot of us do our own road touch ups and etc. can you explain some of the areas that you might be able to get the car run safer and better?

How is this even a legit question to what I've said? I said I had experience with poor cold start tune, and know of a customer of Trent's who blew a hole in his piston because of excessive pinging, how does that correlate to me saying I could tune it better?

Sorry that it seems a little far fetched that you're making more power through a factory 2.5L than what a 4L Barra can make in the XR6 Turbos. When it's posted in a shootout mode through a tuner other than Trent, then I personally will believe it, but I don't think you should worry about what I think as I'm not the type to go out on fb and "omgzzzz best tuner ever omgzzz must tell everyone" like every other factory S14 owner seems to believe.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
