I've seen them constructing that or another building

Farkin eyesores

But wouldn't be bad living in one, nice views at least - just a shame it screws everyone else over

inb4 Frankston is new surfers paradise

I f**king hate this Chinese property bullshit and our government (Liberal OR Labor) for selling us the f**k out.

There are more millionaire Chinese than working Australians...say hello to new Hong Kong, Melbourne.

But they haven't really the media is spinning bs the law is quite firm

Foreigners cannot buy established property unless they have correct visa which in many cases states they must sell it when they leave if they don't become permanent resident.

They do have pretty much unrestricted access to new property - apartments house & land etc and in cases for $5 million plus property (apart from Dezz who cares) so it's a big beat up.

Just cos someone looks chinese/ indian or whatever and outbids you doesn't mean they aren't just entitled to that property as you are given they are 99% likely to be a permanent resident as the law requires on established property.

Reason for all the above and allowing them to buy new is simple - it creates jobs for people like Dezz gov is ok with this. Established no job creation so no no.

so i get "flush" fitting wheels, large tyres, coilovers, nothing ridiculous or excessive... and now Traction Tyres say they wont put them on because they cant make them fit.

where do all these stance kids get their shit fitted?

Tyre Power North Melbourne is pretty friendly regarding that sorta stuff aren't they?

What were they refusing to do? Put the tyres on the rims or the rims on the car? or fit your coilovers to the car?

Laws mean shit as long as loopholes exist and they do. They buy through people already living here and there is no limit on how much property a permanent resident can buy. My general manager sold his home for 2 million to an 18 year old girl, tell me where she got the money for that in her short life lol. Also many foreigners ARE wanting permanent residency and that is part of the problem. Spend 5 million on a business investment and you have automatic permanent residency. If a house is commercially zoned, bonus, you can buy your house and your investment in one go.

I believe in a balance and things aren't balanced from what I see. Our city and inner city is swiftly heading for a majority Chinese population. Melbourne was/is a multicultural city and that's what made/makes it so great, not another version of a Singapore where the Chinese own everything and every other ethnicity is forced out to the fringe or you have these segregated pockets here and there.

OTR could be the place to go for that.

Boss is so retarded... His 27" Apple Thunderbolt screen has died, so he's going to go buy a new one from the Apple Store now... $1200

Even after I've advised him:
- All the buyers guides say "DO NOT BUY" because a new 27" 5K Display (Same panel as the iMac / the new Dell range) is about to be released
- You'll be buying something which hasn't had an update in 1259 days (3.5 years)
- Due to its age it's only got USB 2 (His laptop supports USB 3)
- Due to its age it's only got Magsafe 1 power connector (His laptop uses Magsafe 2, so would need another adapter)
- Due to its age it's only got Thunderbolt 1 (His laptop uses Thunderbolt 2)

I advised him (as the IT Manager) that he should purchase 2 x Dell U2913WM (Ultra Wide 29" Screens, $550ea) for the office which connect up to the laptops in exactly the same way, and since he wants an Apple screen he should take someone elses Apple Thunderbolt Display after replacing it with one of the Dell screens... Then purchase the new Apple 5K display once it is released.

He says "That sounds like a logical idea"... 10 minutes later he says "I'll be back in about 45 minutes" and walks out the front door.

Sometimes I don't even know why I'm here, because it's clearly not to offer logical IT advise to save the company money.

they fitted tyres to wheels, coilovers already on the car and they say "those wheels will never fit under those guards". and apparently camber wont bring it close enough. too much poke (apparently)

bit of a drive just to put wheels on... maybe ill just dial in my own camber, how hard could it be? :P tape measure, piece of string, easy.

yeah, was thinking that

will get guards rolled next week

I don't get why you sys admins get so flustered with what people do with computers when you could be looking at all their personal shit

Because it comes out of my IT Budget, when I could have replaced two other screens in the office for the same price.

You'd think if TT say it can't fit... that's good advice. I've dealt with them a couple times with weird shit and they certainly went out of their way to "make it work", so if they say IMPOSSIBRU!!!! they are likely speaking from a good vantage point?

Yes there is a lot of asians, come west heaps of indians too Australia's a small population.

You've got one example it's hardly solid ground the statistics on foreign ownership in aus are actually very low

It's a media beat up playing on Australia's underlying racism. I'm not even backing them up as if I make money out of it cos I sell established houses and I need to shift 10 or more for it to be $5 mill worth lol

The statistics aren't accurate for reasons I raised in my post

It's not foreign ownership when the purchaser is a resident

You'd need statistics on ethnicity of home buyers and multiple home buyers, but can't do that for obvious reasons

    • No worries at all 🫡 I think the most satisfying things to make are the little bits that are just impossible to find or they're no longer manufactured. Generally I always try to replace parts with OEM wherever possible. This little project is also great because it'll never see the light of day, but strengthen these brackets so it's not just relying on the little standard screws in the headlight plastic. As soon as I saw the standard brackets and screws I thought, "well I'm not going to install with just the screws, the plastic tabs will just snap off". It's crazy how expensive everything has become yeah. But I suppose that's supply and demand; granted it's a lot easier to get brand new genuine parts these days which is fantastic 😊, I don't have to get totally reamed at the local Nissan dealer ha ha We sure are lucky we have all these manufacturers making parts these days, a few really great Australian companies too like Platinum Racing Products and Fit Mint Automotive, what a time to be alive ❤️ . I've got my eye on the RB26 head by PRP as mine has a very fine hairline crack, so that'll need to be addressed some time in the future. If you have any requests or odd things to make feel free to let me know and I can have a crack at making replacement parts ✌️
    • Thanks for sharing this, and BTW if your headlights are in good condition they are worth thousands....you might want to consider replacing them with brand new LED ones like this (https://www.nengun.com/78works/full-led-headlights-r32-skyline) and making enough profit to buy a house in Sydney
    • I'm not sure what sort of shops are nearby, but I'd expect any reasonable exhaust shop could put a cat in it that will not restrict the power that engine makes. Otherwise, if you want to remove it, short lengths that replace the cat are readily available online, search for "de-cat pipes" or "test pipes"
    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
